I drag my wife to all of the comic book movies and she goes and likes some hates others. I always show her trailers of new ones coming out and she is always like "Yeah, whatever. You will be dragging me to another one." I played this one for her last night and she got a great big smile on her face and she said she can't wait for this one. She thought everything about it looked awesome. First time she has had that reaction. [Reply]
One thing about this trailer is it doesn't seem like the Joker is doing anything wrong or illegal. Just creepy and struggling with mental illness. I'm sure that's intentional. Phoenix seems like a really good choice if I hadn't already seen Ledger perfect the character to a level that was previously unthinkable. [Reply]

He's running with a bag at one point, I'm guessing that was his first robbery. [Reply]
That's also probably the most tantalizing trailer I've ever seen in my life. Part of the brilliance is that you know this winds up with gore and mayhem but yet he seems so vulnerable and innocent. The transition will be epic. [Reply]

I think it signals a current appetite for more human-level comic narratives.
Kind of like, even when Guns and Roses was putting out the pinnacle of Sunset Strip Hair Band Metal, there was a huge lurking appetite for muted gritty garage band Nirvana.
Today's superhero movies are about the best they've ever been, but there's a burnout eventually on even the sheer perfection and strenuously curated awesomeness. And an appetite for grit and grime and pathos creeps in. [Reply]

Teaser trailers rarely do. It’s all about generating tone and general vibe. A longer more story detailed trailer will appear a few months down the line. [Reply]

ya I watched the first trailer in the OP and didn't think it really looked that good. I'd watch it if it were on amazon but that's about it.
I did see some movie with Phoenix in it recently about him being some weird hit man and I made it through the entire movie, so I was entertained. [Reply]
