With Endgame on the horizon, I started thinking about how the MCU compares to the other great franchises over the years. So...what are the best ones of all time? We'll generate a giant list then put it through a Rain Man style poll series in the Lounge (probably seeded by box office or something like that).
For me, I think the MCU has to be at the top just in terms of quality, volume, and consistency. I'm not sure they'll be able to keep it going forever like the Bond movies, but who knows?
I think I'd put the LOTR movies at #2 for me just because of how huge they are.
Not sure what to think of Star Wars. It's clearly one of the most impactful franchises of all time, but man...they've had some clunkers in there. [Reply]
I guess the Jack Ryan movies should be added, although in truth only Hunt for Red October and Clear and Present Danger are really the only notable ones. [Reply]

But...
For what they are (dumb, popcorn, action flicks), should the Fast and Furious franchise be on the list?

To be clear, the ones in the OP are just the ones that came to mind. But now that you mention it, I suppose we could make this into a Rain Main style poll series.
If we went that direction, I'd have a ton of others to throw in there.
Jason Bourne
Jurassic Park
Mission: Impossible
Pirates of the Carribbean
Transformers

...
The Expendables
Jack Reacher
Die Hard
Red
We could get lost in the weeds going there. [Reply]
Hmm. In no particular order, off the top of my head:
Sergio Leone's "Man with No name," series
Indiana Jones
Alien
Die Hard
Superman
Terminator
Friday the 13th
Rocky
Lethal Weapon
Austin Powers
Hannibal Lecter
Back to the Future
There's lots more. These are just the ones I can think of off the bat. [Reply]
