Warner's is clueless when it comes to DC.
Any idea why they didn't use the CW version of Flash? That would make the most else we and be an easy tie in to drive traffficbto the CW series.

I'm sure there is some contract somewhere that prohibits it but if you're going to have a universe, have a universe. And I like the CW character. I think he would fly on the big screen.

DC has decided to keep the Cinematic Universe and the TV universe separate, which is why there's a different Superman, Flash, etc. from the films. They view them as separate entities and in a way, it's worked out well because the TV unit has been successful whereas the DCU has not, at least in terms of fan satisfaction.

Personally, I think the entire DCU has been an epic disaster from the start, with no plan of action. They've tried to emulate Marvel's success but instead of doing it slowly, with individual films that eventually culminate into the Justice League, they tried to do it with a bang and force the audience into caring for characters, despite the story. Obviously, it's not working.

Also, I have no idea is the WW film will work at the end of the day, as they're still editing. But hiring a female director, just because WW is a female lead character, was one of the dumbest moves any studio could make. This isn't a slight on Patty Jenkins (at least until I see the film) but I find it hard to believe that she was the most qualified person to direct WW.

Warner Brothers handling of the DCU has been atrocious and every time they try to "fix" it, it gets worse.

I think the DC Universe would have been in great hands with Nolan.

I agree but he just didn't want to do it any longer and wanted to move on.

BTW, have you seen the IMAX trailer for Dunkirk? I saw it before Rogue One.

Holy fucking shit! It was absolutely insane. I've never seen or heard anything like it on a movie screen (or in real life).

Yeah. Nolan doesn't seem to want to stick with a project for a long time. I don't think I've ever seen a movie of his that I didn't like. His take on Batman was fucking amazing.

I haven't seen the IMAX trailer, no. I did create a thread for it here though. I'll be watching that movie for sure.

I assume that they chose to take the DCU into dark and gritty territory because they didn't want to be accused of copying Marvel's success with their franchises on the big screen. But man, it just isn't playing out well for them, in spite of the success Nolan had with his version of Batman.

Pestilence is right, if they wanted to keep on that path, they should have docked a cargo ship full of money at Nolan's beachside home and gave him free reign to shape the DCU.

(And yeah, Dunkirk looks like it's going to be the "HOLY SHIT" movie of the summer)

I'm afraid the DCU movies are going ruin how cool The Flash is. CW is making The Flash one of the coolest super heroes we have. On the big screen in the clip he looks horrific and Leonard nerdy. Not cool. Barry Allen isn't necessary isn't so cool he is Dick Tracey but he isn't a geek.

That's a good take. Thanks. I wish they wouldn't fuck up these amazing characters.

Ben Affleck is OUT as Batman stand alone director.

Shit's falling apart...

If I was in charge of casting, Gina Carano would be Wonder Woman.

She actually looks like an amazonian princess and not a half starved runway model... and she can fight.

Gina would have been my first thought as well. Dunno about her ability to actually act the part as opposed to just looking it.

How many more times do you think he will get to play Batman? I wouldn't be heartbroken if his no longer being the only director leads him to leave the franchise and it ends with him in Justice League.

I love what he did in Argo but I have difficulty buying him as Batman.

To this day, despite all its flaws, chief among them the fact that none of the principal cast members knew how to act, one of my all time favorite movies is the original Conan the Barbarian.

If Arnie could pull that off, Gina could certainly pull off Wonder Woman.
