Media Center>Just got this laptop...thoughts?
Holladay 05:22 PM 08-17-2017
I got it from Wal-mart. I looked at Amazon and a number of other places. They didn't come close.

I have been wanting a laptop for a number of years. Notice I said "wanting" not "needing". I have tried my wifes tablet and don't care for it. It is too limited.

Here are the specs: Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-5157 for $400. Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5Ghz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 Ghz. Intel HD graphics 620, up to 3134 MB Dynamic Video Memory, 6 GB DDR4 Memory, 1 T GB HDD, 8x DVD, 3 USB (3.1-2.0) Ports, Serial Port, HDMI Port, Ether Net Port, wt 4.8 lbs, not sure (don't think so..tried touching it:-) ) Touch Screen, Windows 10, 15.6 inch screen, full Keyboard.

I think that is it.

Purpose: multi: business, surf, email, research, Netflix, might do some gaming (WOW...been a long time). Basically, do everything that I do on my office computer and home towers.

I just got back from a road trip to SC. I had my Mom's old Acer Laptop from 2004. It died. I normally do all my computer work on my office or home towers. The portability of this laptop is nice i.e. taking it to the garage to watch a YouTube video on a car repair etc.

Thoughts?

How much was it? I'm in the market for a 2 in 1 tablet/laptop. But I need it to have a monster battery to last me 8 hrs between charges.

I guess I should have bolded the cost. $400. It was on sale, not sure if available anymore. I used the Wal-mart web site, not the store. It was FedEx to me in 2 days.

I am in the process of draining the battery to "zero", in the theory batteries have a memory. Kind of sucks...on high performance, brightest screen, no sleeping, no shut off...takes 6 hours to kill the battery. Thus the battery time should be solid (was one of the highlights in reviews).

I am not sure what a 2 in 1 is. This is a straight up laptop. I can't take the screen off. As far as my research, I am no computer whiz, and after talking to my computer nerd, is a quality buy. My FedEx dude is going to try and get one.

Pretty basic. Won't be playing many games on it. It's acceptable for everything else on your list.

You always get what you pay for.

I built one 3x stronger than yours in half the price and my teenage daughter saw me with it and she respects me again.

I mean... there are a whole bunch of different SpectreX360 so depends on the one you get.

I would rather give up all portability and use a desktop so I might be biased but that shit is way too high.

It's a needs thing. Do you need a touch screen 2 in 1? If not, you can get same or better speced laptop for less money, and im gonna be honest, mobile processors still suck ass for real life tasks. I guess if you are just opening up chrome and spotify and doing your thing.. sure.

In the end, its still a disposable POS.

I've bought my last 6 laptops at Best Buy. They always got the best deal when I decide on a model. I usually get high end laptops so I dont know if that history holds for those laptops in the $400 range.

Seems like a good rig and price.

I didn't realize Best Buy was a provider for secret agents.
