Highest paid....Russell Wilson
MVP....Patrick Mahomes
Number one draft pick...Kyler Murray
Leading Heisman candidate....Jalen Hurts
That ability to escape the pocket, extend plays, plant that...run? pass?...seed, is where things are heading. No backer ever has to worry about Eli, Rivers, Brady, Dalton, running the football. That can't be said about those mentioned above.
Lamar Jackson is what we see at Arizona(faster than Jackson), Oklahoma, Ohio State, and all over college/HS football nowadays, that mobile QB, a guy who can scoot 30 yards, extend plays.
The first black QB's were Willie Thrower, Marlon "Magician" Briscoe, James Harris, "Jefferson Street" Joe Gillum. (can't really count Fritz Pollard) but none of them made any impact.
It started with Doug Williams, Warren Moon and Randall Cunningham, they proved that yes blacks can play NFL QB.
Today there are more black starting QB's than ever before.
Can't ignore....
DeShaun Watson
Kordell Steward
Daunte Culpepper
Jeff Blake
Rodney Peete
Vince Young
Colin Kaepernick
Lamar Jackson
Jacoby Bissett
Teddy Bridgewater
Tyrod Taylor
Andre Ware
Vince Evans
Akili Smith
Geno Smith [Reply]

There are no white NFL cornerbacks not because of coaching but because of a lack of speed and quicks. NFL receivers can run a 4.3 40, so who can run with them, yep, other 4.3's, how many white cats run a 4.3?

Are we going to talk about athleticism of the QB position, which is interesting, or are we just going to talk about melanin levels of said QB's?
Cos that argument has been sitting on a roadside dead since the 90's.
There are no black QB's on a par with Brady/Montana/Rodgers/Brees/Marino/Peyton, so no I don't think we are better. What I think is QB's need to put more stress on a defense in todays game, and being able to move around, pick up that third and 7 with their legs is where the game is going and we see it with who is coming out of the NCAA, and the HS's. What we see are the natural consequence of 30 years of not discriminating against black QB's after decades of doing exactly that.
Obviously the numbers would level off. Black QB's in college and HS aren't new.
The QB position will always favor the guys who are the best at throwing the football. ALWAYS. [Reply]

Warren Moon is in the Hall of Fame. Easily over a third year QB, any third year QB.
Wilson walked right in and took over, Mahomes was baby sat for a season.
Wilson has done way too much, set too many NFL records, played in two SB's. You can take any QB you want Tom Brady, Montana, Marino, Rodgers, etc etc and compare what they did in the first 8 seasons vs what Wilson has done, yep...Russell Wilson.
No way in hell you can put a guy with less than two years as a starter over a HOFer and a guy like Russell Wilson. [Reply]
