I highly doubt this and would love to see where you are getting your number from.

The few comic conventions I have been to have been close to a 50/50 male/female ratio, however the mainly sexist comic fans are very active on social media. They either don't attend the conventions or they keep it to themselves. Star Wars fans...

That's a pretty easy one to Google. There are a number of studies that have been done, and they are all in the same ballpark. Here's one done by Nielsen.

That doesn't say it came from Nielsen. It says DC attempted to do market research with Nielsen. It doesn't even state their results.

The numbers they are getting are from Facebook. From the paragraph previous to the one stating the stats it almost sounds like they are including comics and graphic novels as being counted here.

Doing research on Facebook is not doing true research. They don't even say how they are getting their numbers.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. Feel free to dig into all of the other studies if you don't like that one.

The point I was trying to make was that what you linked was bullshit. Simple enough for ya?

He made a claim, point me to where he got that number.

You're too lazy to find any data to the contrary. Got it.

I am so lazy I took the time to actually read the link you presented(which you did not since you claimed it was Nielsen) which was complete bullshit. Thanks for playing.

Edit: If you just want numbers to the contrary here

male 90%
female 10%

That is just as good as what was linked.

Another funny thing, after reading what Nielsen did with DC, DC doubled down with pushing their comics to males. Hmmm... maybe that should tell you something.

Here was your Nielsen DC crap... 40% female :-)

http://comicsalliance.com/dc-comics-...rship-93-male/

This isn't a study on all comic books and I realize that, I am only posting it due to the last few posts.

And my made up numbers were closer than other peoples made up numbers.

You would have to live another planet to think 40% of comic book fans are chicks. Common sense guys.

I don't know definitively one way or another, but have you ever been to a Con? I'd guess it's around 70% women. The movies in theaters seem to be about 50/50 to me. Whether they're reading comic books or not, I certainly don't know, but the only info we have are the attempts to quantify it online, and they seem to all suggest it's 30-40% female.

Is that the way it was in the 80's and 90's? Probably not. But I can definitely buy that it's grown a ton in recent years.

Comic Con and Movies =/= anything close to comic book readership.

I'm too lazy to see what you two are arguing about, but my very first guess about the even split is because most people take a date to see a movie.

Maybe I just run with a weird crowd. My wife is into the movies as much as I am, and the only people I know personally that go to Comic Con every year are my two nieces and all of their girlfriends. (Again, I have no insights in to actual comic book readers since I don't really know anyone who reads them - male or female.)

So...not to be insensitive but...are you guys all a bunch of old farts who only associate with boring women? :-)

I've noticed that more and more chicks are into the comic book shit. But horror is where it's really turned to where there may be more chicks not only liking it, but being very involved with it
