At this point and since they're one year contracts, yes. It's one thing to over pay on a multi year deal and have to pay for it years down the road, but for one year deal when you have $20mil in cap space? Why not throw in a little extra to get the guy you want?

Missing out on Reynolds sucks, but if they sign Ingram and Williams on Tuesday then re-sign Reiter and either sign Okung or trade for a LT, this would allow them to spend a high pick on a WR and that’s what I really want more than anything at the position.

We missed out on last years WR class, it would be really nice to get somebody early out of this one.

Bateman or Marshall would be ideal.

Because you still have to sign other guys. And those guys are more than likely on one year deals. Add in another $7-8 million for the draft picks. They can’t just overpay for everyone.

Exactly. They went after their quality guys, now they’re trying to get quantity. Fill as many needs as possible and try to give yourself some flexibility in the draft.

The only one that doesn’t make sense to me is Reynolds. We don’t know what was offered or what he got though.
Let's not forget that JuJu also turned down more money from Baltimore. It definitely wasn't just a KC issue.

No! Don’t you get it, in order to push the narrative that the Chiefs failed, we HAVE to assume we could’ve gotten him for a little more!

Ever since the whole Williams thing happened....I think I’ve changed my tune on how this team moves forward.

We need to get younger and add more depth. This team cannot keep being successful if we go into every offseason looking to fill holes with one year deals. We’re paying for past mistakes now (looking at you DEs and WRs). Get a couple of guys in here to help and then draft the starters for in the future.

OT, OC, WR, DE, LB

Does that mean we go 14-2 and coast to the AFC Championship game? Probably not. But it’s better for the long term future of this team. It’s not like Mahomes is gone in 3-4 years. He’s here for 10.

There’s no need to panic guys. Just get the mid level producers like Ingram, Hilton, Williams and bring Reiter back and we’re fine.

The 2nd year guys are going to be what helps this team move forward. Really think you’re gonna see guys like Wharton and Gay be good players next year. That’s on top of Clyde and Sneed. Oh and possibly Niang.

Goddamn Veach just nailed that rookie class. Keep doing that and nothing else matters

He turned down more money than we offered him. They had $10-11 million in base plus incentives. He knew wasn’t doing shit in Baltimore with that QB.

Exactly why I’m not freaking out about anything until AFTER the draft. People have no patience. Let the man cook.

Remember all that talk about how FAs would take less to play here because of the opportunity to play with Mahomes?

Guys I think we may downplay the jealousy/bitterness some of these players around the league may have for Pat?? Remember it's the players who have picked Pat at fourth in the rankings for two years!!..as much as we all thought it would be logical to assume guys would want to be around greatness...sometimes envy can get in the way...just something to ponder moving forward.

That narrative is still true... the Chiefs have lost out on some of their free agent targets this offseason due to unique circumstances in each situation.

Trent Williams received a ridiculous/record breaking contract from the 49ers and he also has strong loyalty to Kyle Shanahan.

Rodney Hudson was traded against his wishes (he wanted to be released) to Arizona.

And JuJu wanted to stay in Pittsburgh and play with Rapelesthiberger for some reason.

You don't have to overpay for everyone. For example, if you paid Juju, you wouldn't then need Reynolds. And it's not even like I'm asking them to give someone $15 mil when they're actually with $7. A mil or 2 would likely make a big difference to someone like Reynolds. Also remember that the cap space we have now is still without the Tyrann extension which we're expecting will come.

We got rid of Sammy and DRob. That's about 120 catches right there. Tell them they have an opportunity to get the majority of those catches and they'll make more money and they might bite.
