In this scenario we would have five second round picks due for an extension the same offseason Mahomes will be cashing in on his monster deal. And that’s if they work out. We would have to let everyone walk pretty much. [Reply]

I wasn’t thinking about the salary cap situation. I was trying to get as much talent as I could this season for Mahomes to roll with.

I was just playing with the idea.
I hear you. Short term payoff could be big, but I think it’s too big of a gamble in terms of risking the future. [Reply]
I get what you're doing, but you're better off waiting for those picks to come around, trading down in the draft, and spreading your second rounders over three years. There is the aforementioned contract expiration but also there is the consideration that you don't want 10 rookies coming in at the same time. Focus on assimilating a couple guys at a time. [Reply]

I was just trying to fill up the roster with elite talent (Top 64) for Mahomes this season. Get him a LG, Safety, Corners, Edge rusher to make this team ready for his first season.
