Media Center>Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8
keg in kc 02:23 PM 05-24-2017
About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

I don't know why GRRM split books 4 and 5 into two character groups instead of keeping all the characters together in one timeline, but it was a colossal screw up because they are much more enjoyable books when you read them together and get all the characters instead of half of them in each book.
Interesting. I'm like a third of the way through book 4 and it's annoying that the characters are split. The only one he's talked about from the earlier books is Cercie. But, I'll just finish this ride. It's slowed down noticably this book, I can see why people are bitching about it. I hope to be done with the books by say April or so. Then I'm going to binge the series again with my wife. I can't wait.

She just so OP now. She can infiltrate anywhere as anyone, is knowledgeable on poisons, and now, apparently, can fight 1-on-1 with the best fighters in Westeros.

Largely I agree that Brienne would wipe the floor with Arya, but I came across this dude who studies antique arms and armor and HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) who does some neat shit about medieval shit. Anyway, he's reviewed most of the GoT fights and battles, and has been notoriously scathing on the accuracy of most of them, but much to my surprise didn't destroy this one.

Not sure if it would have transferred to an IRL "W" for Arya, but it may not have been as far out as I initially thought.

Yeah, there is a consensus out there how to read books 4&5 together at the same time. Read book 4 chapter 1, then chapter 3 of book 5 etc. I read book 4, then book 5.

GRR spends 500 boring pages on the politics of the iron island selecting a new leader. They are the worst books.

Cool, good find.

That wont be enough most likely

As for who gets Cersei, hell anyone could be right... but my hunch is that Arya gets the top kill on her list

And Clegane will be with her to take on his brother, preventing the Mountain from intervening :-)
With the wall falling, whoever defeats the knight king will get the throne. Plus if he and Dany are together, and he was already King of the North, and he becomes a dragon rider, and they defeat the Night King and still have one or more dragons, I don't think the proof will matter much.

They don't have to follow the book on how Cersei dies, but it will for sure be Jamie or Tyrion killing her in the book, or possibly the Hound. Without going into painful detail, that's just how prophecies work in GRRM's world. Since every single other thing Maggie the Frog predicted to Cersei has been correct, there is pretty much a 100% chance that her prediction of Cersei being killed by a little brother will also come true. That rules out Arya, but not the Hound perhaps since he is a little brother.

Haha, the Hound is not a Lannister. But he is a little brother...to Gregor. The prophecy from Maggy the Frog said "And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."

By using "the valonqar" instead of "your valonqar" when talking to Cersei, she leaves open the possibility that its not Cersei's little brother, but just a little brother. So it won't be Arya that kills her (in the books at least), but it could very well be the Hound. However, that part of the prophecy was not shown on the TV show, so they are not tied down by that restraint on the show.

Following that logic, Bran could play warg and do the deed. Seems highly unlikely, but with such an open interpretation anything is possible.

Jamie kills Cersi. Anyone think differently enough to want to bet some money to a charity?

I wouldn't bet on anything related to Martin's story.

Well, I might bet that he dies before he finishes the 6th book, but otherwise...

It'll probably be Arya wearing Jamie's face for the most epic valonqarness.

Arya could do it wearing Jamie’s face

Love the guys critique but couldn't Arya have simply known the sword wouldn't do any damage that way and that is why she was actually hitting her with it and not actually trying to stab her. She knew if she stabbed her it would actually possibly kill her.
