Media Center>Ed Harris takes Top villain role in HBOs "Westworld" reboot

Sweet. Loved this film when I was a kid. It's ripe for a reboot.

Doesn't sound like he's playing the Yul Brenner role though

Ed Harris is coming to series TV: The Abyss and Apollo 13 actor has signed on as the Big Bad in HBO’s Westworld reboot.
The four-time Oscar nominee’s character is called The Man in Black, and is described as “the distillation of pure villainy into one man.” He joins previously cast star — and fellow series television newcomer—Anthony Hopkins, along with Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Shannon Woodward.

The Warner Bros.-produced sci-fi pilot produced by J.J Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk updates Michael Crichton’s 1973 classic film about a theme park where androids fulfill dark human desires. Harris’ description might sound like he’s playing the Yul Brynner killer-cowboy robot role, but it seems like actor Rodrigo Santoro was tapped for that part—and online production rumors suggest The Man in Black is actually a human character who sadistically abuses the androids.

Harris will soon be seen the feature film Run All Night, starring opposite Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman. Harris won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Emmy for his work in HBO’s Game Change.

What I wanna know is if Ford had the inkling the company would do such a thing when he realized the implications of having extremely life-like automatons and did he have some sort of countermeasure in mind. Just typing this out now makes me think he knew such a move would come, and this is the point of the "maze" and having hosts gain their own sapience.

I guess the conflicts shaking out are Ford vs the Delos Board, William vs Ford, William vs the Delos Board, Maeve vs Dolores and Dolores vs everyone.

Bernard is probably a tool of Ford in some way, maybe..

Delores has been going more Black Hat and Maeve has been going more White Hat as the story goes along. There is already a tension between the two. Let's see what happens to Dolores' boy toy once his treatment is over. If that process falls a certain way then it's going to be a Black Panther set up. A different way and she now has a worthy 2nd like Maeve.

Whoever chose C.R.E.A.M. as the song the geisha dances to is a genius. That song was so perfect for so many reasons.

I liked the pacing of the march into town, as the music slowly introduced motifs of 'Paint It Black' and the Westworlders started to realize the parallels of the narratives being played out.

That was incredible too. The cinematography in that episode was especially beautiful.

I was driving home from work recently and suddenly imagined a war between Shogun World (Maeve) and West World (Dolores). I wonder how the paramilitary Delos on the island would react to that.

I just want to see Delores off the fucking island and in regular human world wrecking havoc, stealthy. Then let Maeve do what she does inside westworld.

One on the inside, one on the outside.

We may well find out once Maeve uses her new mind powers to harness the shogun army.

That would be cool though I'd add the plot twist of both of them performing their roles without clothing from this point forward.
For dramatic effect.

They already showed enough naked man ass and unnecessary dick in the past 1.5 seasons that they should reward us with that, amirite?

That would fit their personalities and abilities. I think I read in an article that the show runners were looking at each season like its own stand-alone movie as far as the plots unravel.

Yeah. I am pretty sure it was that last scene that made me think of it.

Funny, some people hate Dolores for fighting back.
How soon we forget why she is fighting. Also, no one says anything about the male characters or the mother, almost as if people WANT her to stay the damsel. And now she is a so called “bitch”
Doesnt that sound familiar??

So the next time you wanna praise the MIB for being a “badass” and then turn around and give Dolores a hard time,
I would look in the mirror long and hard..
And question the nature of your reality. pic.twitter.com/6KkfRZ4MCk
