My daughter works in a Covid unit in a major KC hospital and they have had patients last 6 weeks - 2 months in the ICU then die. You can keep people alive on vents for a long time.

Those are what we call outliers.

14-15 days is 2 weeks. I am not saying there aren't people who hang on longer only to die. We know that happens. But 6 weeks is not the norm. But it just seems like when the data doesn't support an argument people like to say "just wait 2 more weeks". And in general it takes a lot longer to recover "officially" than it does to die. The recovered number has done nothing but go up and is currently at it's highest levels of recovered\deaths. And that's with several states not even reporting recoveries such as Kansas.

I don't necessarily disagree with your post but let's not pretend that our media and some of our leaders choose to bash certain things while turning a blind eye to others when both are tantamount to the same thing that we are all supposed to be afraid of.

The telling thing here is there was no way the media could have stopped any one of the protests. On the other hand, there's been a few mass gatherings that one person, one single person could have said the word and cancelled them. And yet you don't seem to bother to mention them.

No, the media could not have stopped them. But they could have railed against them and did the exact opposite of encouraging them. But we are getting on a tangent not suited for this thread.

Watching an old relative die of Covid via webcam: Well, better you than me. At least I'm young.

So, why don't you just drop your crusade against the media then. We all know where it comes from.

Deaths lag case spikes by about a month. People usually don’t develop the severe respiratory issues until days 7-10. After which they need hospital care around the 2 week mark in many cases. Ventilator use is averaging 15+ days for those needing it from COVID. And Vents can keep people alive a long time, even if the end result is death. This timeline presents increased death numbers to follow 4-6 weeks post positive case spikes. Currently in AZ, 10% of diagnosed positive cases are needing hospital care.

Diseases are real and we don't live forever. We could save more lives every day if we stripped away freedoms but we don't.
