Beto O’Rourke.

Pay no attention to his shitty odds right now (i.e. getting 7 cents on Predicit)

They generally do and that’s why neither is viable.

Leftists love young dreamers talking about “hope” and “vision”. Dreams are big for them.

Think about it: their favorite speech (MLK) isn’t “I have a......plan-for-universal-coverage”

PB I am with you he would be my favorite along with Kamala Harris.

I think I stated that in another thread a couple of months ago that if he ran it was his to lose.

If and when he announces, watch for his Predictit odds to jump. I’ll post what happens.

And his 30ish second speech on I love Obama around minute 10 or so ain't gonna do him any favors with rurals either. :-)

Stopped watching there so maybe things went in a different direction after that point, but I didn't hear anything that would win him any votes in my district anyways. But my district is mostly what I call 2nd Amendment Republicans. Have a solid pro 2nd stance, you win here.

Also, your mention of Iowa.
I have mentioned here before, but Iowa and Colorado are 2 Midwest states where I don't understand their voting patterns if you will. Why do they lean Dem? I don't know, but they do. So I have learned to take any election results in those states with a grain of salt. I don't think you should read too much into any elections from either one of those states. That's just my take, of course.
Doug Jones and Stacy Abrams are bad examples because they're social liberals. Beto is just a brand, no substance. But where rural progressives like buttigieg have had success in middle America.... They tend to lean pro life, lean pro gun, talk about family values. But more importantly, they did a lot of grassroots stuff... Knocking on doors and talking to people, And they focus a ton on working class labor. they have a window to win on labor. Local dems were once pro union, pro labor. Buttigieg brings up a great point that politicians care about getting re-elected so they'd rather build sexy roads and bridges, while critical local infrastructure like wastewater gets ignored.

Basically, iyou can convince a steel worker or a farmer that youll give them a better work environment and you try not to piss them off on social values issues, they have a big window. Especially since many of these local repubs are often huge on moral issues but completely ignore all the other stuff.

Local progressivism is the best way for dems to win a general election. Dems will win Cali, NY, the west, etc... No matter what. The key is turning a few red states blue and several of those states turned red by inches.

Kamala is a good candidate, but I have some serious doubts that a black woman could win in 2020 America.

Biden is gonna faceplant, just like all the other times his retread ass has run.
Kamala is not a good candidate. And it's not because she's black. A lot of black people are nervous about her too because of her history on criminal justice. She is a product of the California machine. The dnc is basically trying to put hilary in a more charismatic, diverse, younger body.

Kamala and Beto both poll well in non-battleground states.

Key to remember: CA moved up its primary. That’s huge, it’ll take place at the same time (I think) as the Iowa bullshit. Beto and Harris should kill it out there and whittle down the field much quicker than folks expected.

Biden is a nonfactor and won’t go anywhere and pundits will be shocked. But smart folks won’t.

I doubt that will last for kamala. It's feeding off the same delusion that overestimated hilarys appeal.

Beto I'm not counting out. Unlike kamala, he can still define who he is.

But, he couldn't win in Texas against Cruz.
Maybe that says more about the state than the rest of the country?

Pb has a good point that almost beating a well known senator in a typically very very red state is definitely nothing to sneeze at. I still think he's more sizzle than substance for now, but that initial success is definitely worth monitoring.

Think Biden would be a heavy favorite to beat Trump. But do not see him getting out of the primary. Instead the party will go with a far left socialist. Since it will be all about Trump anyway and not the far left policies it would be 50/50 race.
