the tie-in to the Conjuring --- I still wish they'd had shown what Lorraine Warren saw when looking into the possessed dude's eyes.
Other than that, Wan's jump scares are becoming expected...he even used the exact same moving wall shadow scare from the Conjuring 2.

I'll start off by saying that if you're one of those stuffy "that didn't make sense" movie goers, then this isn't for you. But i enjoyed it.
The movie has all your typical jump scare cliches:
1. The movie is entirely filmed under a "pale moon light" aka, the movie is dark and filmed with shades or blues and grays. Yeah, you know what i mean.
2. The characters routinly make dumb decisions. You know, the typical, "Hey something evil and scary is happening. Everyone split up!" That kinda shit.
3. There a couple real eye roll moments.
But......
1. Excellent jump scare movie. That's what this movie is. It's a jump scare movie and it does it fairly well.
2. Excellent use of shadows and veils. The church/Nun thing gives it some real creepy vibes. Cinematography was nothing original, but it served this movie well.
In summation, this is one of those movies you took your woman to back when you were 19. The story line is full of holes, there's some scenes that are eye roll worthy, jump scares galore with some dark, brooding imagery. It's your token Hollywood horror movie, but it's really good at being that. For what it is, a cheap thrill, it did a great job. If you're a fan of "The Conjuring" movie universe, i highly advise you see this one.

Someone showed me a movie about 10 years ago that seemed like a more recent version, maybe early 90s. Group of kids are lost in a jungle environment, ran into a native tribe, and the last scene is when the guy with the camera realizes that they are going to kill (eat?) him and the group, as they close in on him. That's all I remember, but for some reason none of the other ones I've looked at seem right.

The restaurant scene in Terrifer was fucking awesome and creepy. Everything else after that sucked, so pretty much the entire movie. Just a guy killing bitches. [Reply]
Decent set up for a slasher and I like her a lot, but BOY this looks bad. Cheaply made and amateurish. Unless this is just the worst trailer ever, she was clearly doing someone a favor here. [Reply]

I watched this last night. Mainly because SR has been praising it.
I'm not sure how to best describe it. The confusing irrationality of Twin Peaks combined with the weirdest parts of Nick Cage acting sprinkled with gore and LSD. Something along those lines. Really fucking bizarre. I'd guess half the people that watch it would want to shut it off within 10 minuets. But I thought it was a somewhat enjoyable little acid trip... [Reply]

Apostle was gnarly as hell (currently streaming on Netflix) . Its about an evil cult directed by the guy that did The Raid films. Highly recommend it! [Reply]
I'm watching this one tonight. It's a hybrid of Western & Horror which is pretty unique in itself. Apparently there's some scenes that are pretty gnarly.

Haha "gnarly" is an understatement . It features maybe the most brutal kill I've ever seen in film history.. Damn good film too...Enjoy!:-) [Reply]
