Every group of workers has at least one member who is an idiot.

Just look at all the people you encounter everyday. Idiots abound. They all have to have jobs too. It's just math. Some of them are going to be in your work group. If there is only one in your group - you are extremely lucky. And then there are the part-time idiots. Not that they work part-time - that they are OK workers part of the time, and part of the time they are idiots. Part time idiots may be aware that they did something idiotic and have some remorse. Full time idiots are blissfully self-unaware.

If you think your work group has no idiots, there may be some disappointing news for you.

In my time in the Air Force I was once assigned to a hard crew (a crew where you fly with the same people every time) for a period of about 2 months with one of the worst copilots I ever flew with. Our first mission was a 20 minute flight on which he tried to land at the wrong airport and then tried to land on the wrong runway at the right airport. In both instances I was the one that saw the problem and told him what he was attempting to do. The volume at which I was starting to yell at him was increasing the closer we got to runway until the aircraft commander finally realized that I was right. After getting on the ground he denied that he had done anything wrong and claimed that he would have figured things out on his own.

This was just my first flight with him in that period of time and it was a signal of what was to come over the next couple months. He was an awful pilot and worse yet, he was convinced that he was very, very good. He was also convinced that navigators were stupid. What he didn't know was that the DO (the man effectively the vice commander of the squadron) had specifically put me on that crew because they were a problem. His instructions in private to me were that I was to fix that crew as he didn't want to hear of any more incidents.

After returning home a couple months later the DO came to me and told me that he assumed everything had gone just fine since he hadn't heard anything since. I told him that he was mistaken and met with him for about 30 minutes behind closed doors where I told him that the copilot was an accident waiting to happen and they should never, under any circumstances, let him upgrade to an aircraft commander. The DO took me seriously and they surreptitiously started keeping an eye on him. A couple months later they shipped him out to an assignment that only went to people as either punishment, or for seriously bad pilots.

OP, and others here, I truly empathize.

Stupid shit, mistakes and general problems are part of every workplace. But one thing I've never been able to understand, are the people who think the workplace is the appropriate venue for tantrums, yelling, cursing, etc...

I actually had to speak to HR two days ago because one of my coworkers, who I have about two minutes of actual interaction with every day, begain screaming and cursing at me in what amounted to a total meltdown all because she forgot to lock a drawer, someone borrowed a pen from said drawer, and somehow I was to blame. Oh, and the pen borrower brought the pen back the following day, apologized and thanked my coworker, and two hours later, I still got my ass chewed.

You can't make this shit up.

Hang in there big guy.
There was this chick that would scheme to make others look bad. If a new employee asked her for help or something she would intentionally tell her to do it wrong so that way she can tell them loudly what she's doing wrong while there was a manager nearby. The managers were like "wow, she's really impressive we should promote her"

My current work group is awesome. No one hangs out outside of work, but everyone gets along.

Good attitudes all around. No drama.

This is a first for me though.

In a place like Walmart people who don't pull their weight or fuck around on the job tend to weed themselves out fairly quick before their gone. Then you get a new bunch of ass wipes to deal with. Hang in there.

I am utterly shocked that Walmart would employ such an undesirable coworker.

These are the most dangerous people in life and at the workplace. The arrogance, bravado and ego only adds to their already scary level of ineptitude because they are in fact delusional about their abilities. If it only affected them, hey, no harm no foul. But when others depend on them, it's at these moments you pray other safeguards are in place to prevent disaster.

I was hoping by the title when coming into this thread that I would be reading a "Dear Penthouse" type letter of how OP busted his KC based Nasty Nut into one of his skanky, slutty co-workers in the back storage area.

Alas, it was not to be and instead we got a watered down version of "The People of Walmart".

:-)
