Honestly, I'm a little torn here. A) I really liked Bazelak and thought he was a competent QB when healthy. Watching what Cook was able to do with his legs last night reminded me of what we lost when Bazelak had his lower body injury and essentially became immobile. Oftentimes in 2020 he looked very similar to what Cook looked like last night.

But man, Drink stood by him WAY longer than he should've and gave him every opportunity to succeed here. And then the instant he has to fight for a starting job he transfers? That's weak as hell.

I never like seeing a transfer, especially from the QB room. But when a guy's unwilling to even attempt to win a job back, a job that was his for 2 years, it makes me question his fortitude and wonder what kind of loss he really is.
Chicken shit move for Bazelak. Drink clearly liked him and would give him every chance to earn his spot back and based on a good spring, Bazelak would probably start the first few games and it'd be up to him to continue starting.

Thank God, though, Bazelak regressed like crazy and I don't want a young better player sitting the bench because of him. I hate to make assumptions based on one move, but it's pretty big move and him leaving on these terms makes him seem weak.

I like Bazelak okay, but what a weak move by him. I mean, I guess he saw the writing on the wall with Cook and now Horn coming in.

I mean, he could have probably won the starting job still in the Spring, at least for this upcoming year, but his time as a starter was probably winding down one way or another.

Oh well. If he doesn't want to be here, then we don't want him here.

Good riddance.

Bazelak was not getting the spot back. It makes sense to transfer.

I'm pretty excited about Horn. I wonder if Drink will redshirt him next year or give him a shot at the starting spot?

Horn, one of the most prolific passers in Georgia high school history, believes he’s the perfect match for Drinkwitz’s system. At Collins Hill, he operated a version of Mike Leach’s pass-heavy Air Raid offense and now ranks sixth all-time in Georgia prep history with 10,265 passing yards. (Among those with more yards include NFL QBs Trevor Lawrence, Deshaun Watson and Jake Fromm.) He capped his high school career with Collins Hill’s first state championship last weekend, a victory over Milton in the Class 7A title game

He'll get a shot.

But if Cook is capable of performing at the level he demonstrated vs. Army, it's going to be hard for a true freshman to unseat him.

That kind of poise and decisionmaking is gold for a coach like Drink who's confident he can scheme guys into space. And if the WR talent they've brought in over the last couple years is as advertised, it's a matter of getting the ball to your playmakers and letting them make plays more than anything.

Cook can do that. Now if the WRs are struggling or Cook starts to get a little haywire, I could see a move to Horn to try to jumpstart a little more playmaking ability downfield. If the precision game doesn't work it makes all the sense in the world to crank the risk/reward knob more to the risk side and see what happens...

The #Jaguars put in an interview slip for #Colts DC Matt Eberflus, per source.

Agree sort of. I never hated him, but I was definitely not a fan. Then Steck came along and it was the exact same. Odom was a good DC, but I legit hated him as a head coach.

His defenses kept them from playing for national titles. The 2008 unit gave up 40+ points four times despite having NFL players at every level of the defense.

Outside of Spoon and Moore (and maybe Brock Christopher), the "talent" on that side of the ball was garbage. Granted, he helped to recruit that talent, but man, it's not surprising they couldn't stop anybody.

So either Eberflus was an amazing coach, or defensive talent Pinkel brought in was garbage. From a college perspective, eberflus couldn't coach or couldn’t recruit. His time at Mizzou was a failure because of one or both of the reasons above.

Oh c'mon - you're holding college players to an NFL standard.

Spoon and Moore were elite college players, Brock Christopher, Evander Hood, Stryker Sulak, Jacquies Smith, Carl Gettis, Dominique Hamilton, Will Ebner, Andrew Gachkar, Tommy Chavis - these were GOOD college football players.

Now where I'll disagree somewhat with the consensus is that he wasn't uniformly a shit coach. But he had some REALLY bad performances at bad times. And the 2008 season where fans fully and finally turned on him was a shit-show.

Disagree with this.

Ziggy Hood was a really good DT and was a first-round NFL pick. Spoon and Moore combined to give him NFL players at every level.

They had a pretty good Lb group, too. Christopher was a good college MLb. Gachkar was a great athlete who played 5+ years in the NFL. Lambert and Ebner were good college players.

They didn’t have a dynamic DE (Aldon Smith redshirted that year, probably should have just played him and seen what he could bring as a rush specialist) but Sulak and Chavis were sound and gave effort.

Eberflus’s scheme was too complicated and tricky for college ranks, and too bend-don’t-break. He also overly relied on JustinGarrett (who should have been playing WLB) at S, much to the team’s detriment on several occasions.

College football analyst believes Mizzou standout has ‘separated himself’ at Senior Bowl
Senior Bowl week is underway in Mobile, Ala., with the annual event set to be held on Saturday at Hancock Whitney Stadium as NFL scouts take a look at college football’s top seniors ahead of this spring’s NFL Draft.

Players will be angling to improve their stock and move up the draft board. One of those players is Tyler Badie, who was among the country’s top running backs in 2021. While he may not be the highest-drafted players in the field, he’ll certainly be getting plenty of attention from scouts during the week.

As it turns out, it’s been so far, so good for Badie during the lead up to the Senior Bowl. In fact, according to Football Outsiders’ Mike Tanier, he’s been one of the players that has stood out among everyone else in the field.

“He could be a guy that could start rising up draft boards,” Tanier said.

SEC fans, and Mizzou fans, will be keeping a close eye on Badie on Saturday and hopefully in the NFL this fall.
