Sounds like Florida is ****ed up again.
Whats the concerning part of that article? It seems we were all made aware early on that high risk and front line workers would get the vaccine first and regular people around March.

Where there is a will, there is a way.

A California hospital administered 600 coronavirus vaccine shots within 2 hours after discovering its freezer had broken

The center quickly launched four pop-up vaccination centers, and the drive saved the doses from going to waste.

That's a lot of doses just sitting around not doing anything.

So roughly 200K vaccinated per day over the last 3 days with 4 million additional does distributed over the same span

We want to have this over by the end of summer we need to average 3.5 million vaccines into arms daily.

From what I have read about Kansas in the Star, which likely applies to other States as well, this appears to be more a reporting issue than anything.

The US is a behemoth in terms of size and such. Getting this thing out as fast as we'd like wasn't gonna happen. It's actually going pretty well all things considered. Those numbers are laggy, so I'd guess we've gotten about 6 million total vaccines in arms at this point.

What sucks is with this new variant, now is when we really need to be able to distance and such, but that political will was blown a long ass time ago. There's vaccines so you'd be able to say "we see the end, we need to keep this thing beaten back for a month or so".

But that time has come and past.

It's smart of pharmacies and such, really whoever is giving immunizations, to get it out once a bottle is opened. Don't waste any of it.

I'm curious if reality matches perception, you know where I live, its not exactly a giant metropolis of super effective government and organization and our front line healthcare and high risk have been getting vaccinated for weeks.

Of course strangely enough the hospital systems are the areas largest employers as well.

Yeah the logistics are hard. We have done more with less before. We know how. 6 million or 3 million doesn't matter because we need to be doing 3.5 million a day. Thats just one day over months that need to be done. The longer we fiddle around with getting the vaccine into arms, the higher that 3.5 million daily is going to go up.

All the successful countries, like Israel, that are rapidly getting the vaccine into arms are sitting up pop up vaccine sites. They all have pharmacies, CVS, Walgreens etc. too. But, they are not relying on them and their hospitals. There is an urgency to get this into arms in those countries.

Every major vaccine roll out in the USA was done with pop up vaccine sites. We are not even considering them. We have millions of vaccines gathering dust. We have millions of willing arms waiting to get that vaccine. I'm not seeing any urgency to get us vaccinated ASAP by anyone involved.

Agree BigRed...I just don't understand why the military/National Guard isn't involved and knocking this out distributing and administering (with the help of local healthcare workers).
