Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

This is a big time deal this team really has a trashcan secondary.
Yea I’m sure they’re unaware and without a plan

Honestly, I'd rather have Ha Ha or any of those guys right now, he's probably going to get 1/3 of that, maybe less.

Honestly, I'm not even high on Amos anymore. If this is what the top end of the market looks like, he'll probably get $10M+ per and he's not worth it.

I'm sorry but I just keep feeling like Veach mis-read the market. How doesn't he emphasize that in a conversation with NYG? How doesn't he hammer that point home in trade discussions on Houston? How is it that anyone could've looked at the amount of money in the FA market and felt like this wasn't EXACTLY how this was going to go? Especially when that's, y'know, his job.

Oh wait, we were probably never in on Collins at all because of Andy Reid and Eric !@#$ing Berry.
This is all assuming that the staff believes Collins is that much better than the other options.

He can bloviate all he wants, but Collins, with $3.5 million in career earnings to his name and coming off a down season w/ precisely one excellent year on his resume, was NOT going to pass on $11 million for a single season of football.

You call his bluff there because he'd have absolutely signed the tender. He may not have signed it in NYG, but he'd have signed it somewhere.

I'm going to be honest to this point...Brett Veach's draft, trades and FA periods haven't exactly kicked ass...

It's entirely possible they completely misread the safety market thinking after last year and with all these names no one was getting paid.

Adrian Phillips was a beast down in the box last season. It's why the Chargers used so many multiple Safety sets. They had 3 safeties that could play the run.

That guy might still be around when camp breaks.

The Giants' only choice now is to throw to Evan Engram 30 times against Washington to back up how much they trashed Landon Collins's coverage ability

You guys need to quit freaking out FFS. The safety market is flooded with decent players and the draft has quite a few talents there this year.

Relax

If you are going to argue to me they think the safeties here are good then I'd question if they should be drug tested.

All aboard the maybe-Eric-Berry-can-play bandwagon?
