Nzoner's Game Room>2019 Free agency Thread
O.city 03:24 PM 02-05-2019
We don't really have one of these yet, so figured we could use this as a place to discuss potential free agent acquisitions and what we would like to look for them to bring in.

If any of you guys are interested, heres a good place to do some research.

Like that could honestly workout well.
It's also a recipe for a bottom 5 defense.

The Raiders are giving WR Tyrell Williams a 4-year/$44M deal with a max value of $47M. The deal includes $22M guaranteed.

Could be. Wouldn't be surprising.

It makes more sense than trying to get DeMarcus Lawrence...

Cut Murray and it's cost-neutral.

It would be a major mistake if Veach goes the Ted Thompson route and tries to rebuild the defense (and the remaining needs on offense such as #2 TE) almost exclusively through the draft.

We just don't know exactly what Spagnuolo is looking for.

And I'm gonna go back to what I said when we hired the guy - there's little in his track record that says we should view Spags as some kind of defensive genius, fellas. He has a LOT of shit on his resume. I'm not too certain I'm real gung-ho about "In Spags We Trust" here.

When I see a guy who's been pretty mediocre his entire NFL career and I have a DC who's put forward more clunkers over the last decade that merely decent defenses, I'm not sure how excited I am to just say "oh that's alright, he'll fix Waynes" and then throw cash/capital at him.

To my eyes, Spags needs talent just as much as any DC. He's not a guy who looks like he's gonna make chicken salad from chicken shit, be that an entire unit or an individual player. I can't really point to any instances of him doing so.

Here we go. You have a new enemy it appears.

And Sorensen while you’re at it...

Although I’m not really expecting it. They aren’t hurting for cap room anymore.

Start flipping some 5th and 6th round picks for good players elsewhere.
