That's why you re-up Houston to lower his cap hit and get rid of Ford. Save the most money you can and sign some guys that aren't injured all the time.

You can construct a contract to protect you against such things. Just because Dorsey was terrible at it doesn't mean everybody is.

On the other hand, you can't finagle the franchise tag at all. The number is the number, and if Ford gets hurt, it's gone. Flushed. Wasted.

Just like 2019.

They need to do whatever it takes to make sure this team isn't depending on Houston OR Ford next year because history suggests that they'll both miss at least some time.

They had one of the worst passing defenses in the history of the NFL WITH that pass rush.

So keep the guy that costs the most and keep him for only one season, when there's plenty of chance he won't ever match 2018 again?

I fail to see how that makes sense. It's like throwing away money that could be spent elsewhere.
