I am fully aware of the fact our defense needs an infusion of talent, but damn; I really like this guy...
All that said, if DeAndre Baker or Byron Murphy is still there I'd snap either one up in a heartbeat
If all of the premium talent which fits the Chiefs defensive needs is off the board, I'm okay with picking a TE in the 1st. I just think it's unlikely that all of the CBs, LBs, Edge and S guys who would be great first round pick ups are gone by 29. Even if a beast of an interior defensive line guy falls, I'd still be really tempted to take him over an offensive player. [Reply]
I’d be more concerned about shoring up that leaky pass protection. Patriots exposed the O-line and Mahomes to a degree. Only 1 guy can catch the ball at a time. How about protecting the league MVP? TE would be a luxury pick. Go defense early or O-line if there is a day one starter identified. [Reply]

Funny, if there was no clear 1st rounder available to add to the defense I'd be considering trading back into the 2nd instead, depending on what I got offered for the pick. [Reply]

Don't want to lose the 5th round option.
The 5th year option for Ford was what, 8-9m? It just doesn't seem that crucial to me, compared to the extra pick value you could pick up.
It just seems like a better option than either taking a 1st round talent at a position the Chiefs don't need or using a 1st round pick on someone with 2nd round talent. [Reply]

They could have Chris Jones for 2 more years without having to give him a big deal, instead they traded out and picked up a 3rd rounder.
The 5th year option is huge in terms of keeping a player cheap, or using it as an arbitration buyout number etc. [Reply]

I’d honestly be happy with either one and Irv Smith too.
