We all have varying opinions about the impact of this, the numbers, etc. We will all never agree with each other. But we can all keep it civil.

Thanks!

How long can we hold up like that though?

Things are tight, but no one wants this info out in the media for obvious reasons.

Go to your local subway and ask for roast beef. A lot of them will not have it as their supplier was one of the first to cut them off and divert that inventory to a grocery chain. No one will panic over subway making you eat turkey, but an empty beef case in the grocery store scares the sheep.

A few states have proposals to allow the retail purchase of meat from local butchers ready to put up for discussion. It's basically an emergency deregulation. It'll be like pissing in the wind, but maybe it would help in some regions.
What’s the end game? Just keep shuttling people thru to work?

I mean higher education is not a priority right now. Really, education in general isn't.

The priority should be ensuring basic necessities are being made available to the public. That's it.

How are we to expect people to pay for that without income?

Most utilities have said they aren't going to turn off customers if they can't pay.

Whatever it takes.

Paying people to stay home isn't helping though. Essential workers are getting tired of being walked on, especially the lower income group. "Fuck you, fire me", was becoming the easy out.

It isn't even just that. The economy will be gone in 30 - 60 days if we don't start to open things in some way. Thankfully some states are starting as soon as today. It doesn't have to be full blown but it can't be what it has been. We have lost 23 million jobs in less than a month. A few million of those are gone for good now. You go another 30 days of full lock down and you will see economic devastation like you have never seen. Thanks to some Governors it won't happen.

Yup. This thinking that we just flip a switch and the economy comes back is fantasy.

Uh yeah, no. You have no idea of what ****ed is if you think it is ****ed now. It has is right now, yeah. But we are at a point we can start to suture the wound or continue ignoring it while the infection spreads.

It’ll be slow for a good while. I’m hopeful they’ll have a vaccine or treatment by fall which would help a lot
