Great show, by the way. In my top 20 of all time, and could potentially be in the top ten.
It's because he watches those BBC shows. The Office was a hit in Britain before being ported to the US and gave us Ricky Gervais.

Better Call Saul is awesome as well. Have to watch Breaking Bad first though.

I also watched the British Office before they ever created this one. It's good in a different way. David Brent is not supposed to be sympathetic and way more cringe-worthy.

And will always have given us this.

Fair warning: if you can stomach the cringe the pay off is enormous.

I’m a Brit and prefer The US version. I think the US show got a bad rap over here because the first season was pretty much a remake and didn’t work to well. Once the show went in its own direction it got way better but I guess a lot of UK folk didn’t get past season 1.

I’ve rewatched it and it’s still great although lost its way in the last couple of seasons. Favourite part was when Michael can’t recognise which Asian waitress he’s with and then puts a mark on her arm so he can remember. Genius

When you watch it....think of the people where you work. You will find those characters in the co-workers. Part of the brilliance in it.

Close second. Certainly demonstrates the contrast tonally with the US version.

Lol. David Brent is a brilliant character. Simultaneously awesome and awful.
