Only 4 things I've ever found worthy of steak, even cheap steak.

Raw Horseradish
Creamy Horseradish
Crumbled Bleu or Roquefort
and, distant 4th
that marmalade for the shrimp at Outback

Like the taste of A-1 all right, just seems to ruin steak. Ruin is too tough a word, . . . debase. It debases a steak. Same for most 'steak sauces'

Ketchup is weird. I've gotten to where I hate ketchup most anywhere, even on fries now that dipping sauces and spicy mustards and malt vinegar and all the other superior fry dips are widely available. But I still LOVE it on two things

BBQ sauce or Horseradish is good on just about anything. Mustard > Ketchup in every aspect especially the Horseradish Mustard. :-)

The pizza place I used to work at had the latinos putting ketchup on their pizza, i just about threw up everytime i saw it.

I'm not a big fan of creamy horseradish but then again, I grew up on the real stuff. My dad still grinds it to this day and it's the best right out of the ground. Not a fan of cheese on a steak, especially stuff that is moldy on purpose and smells like socks. :-)

I specifically mentioned A1 because even though I wouldn't use it on a GOOD steak, it's worthy of a cheap steak. I prefer to use it with beef roast myself (not the sliced kind but the crock pot kind). I cannot stand Heinz 57. It's just awful.
