Media Center>Early-mid 90s music suggestions
GayFrogs 01:20 PM 09-12-2020
Any 90s kids who find themselves coming back to this music all the time like I do? This thread is just to list albums that aren't incredibly famous like Dirt, Nevermind, Ten, etc...I want to find more obscure gems from this era. Any suggestions?

The you’ll hate it when I tell you that their cover of No Quarter is better than the original.

If you guys are into Tool and A Perfect Circle, check out Failure, which was a HUGE influence on both bands and all of their musicians. Ken Andrews was brilliant but before his time.

Yeah there was just something about that song 7 Words that drew me in,Bored was also good. They do kind of get unfairly lumped in with nu metal bands when thats really not at all what they are.Passenger was the song with Maynard wasnt it?White Pony is probably my favorite album of theirs, but i like them all.Great live band as well,as i'm sure you know.

A Perfect Circle covered this Failure song on 13 Steps.

Since you are a Tool fan, once upon a time there was a group of friends that made an album full of covers for fun. They called themselves Replicants and were made up of two members of Failure, Paul D’Amour (the original bassist from Tool), and another guy. Maynard provides vocals on this cover of Wings’ Silly Love Songs (sorry, I can never remember how to embed from my phone):

As an aside, Failure and Tool toured together a lot in the early 90s.

Here's something from the 90's you guys probably haven't heard, (BTW - It involves a 'Chapman Stick' and horns):
