Media Center>Is this the saddest song....
Ubeja Vontell 10:05 PM 04-24-2020
....ever recorded?

Now most everyone has heard that song, it is well known.

There are a ton of old blues and country songs pretty damn sad, hell....."took a Smith and Wesson and blew out my brains" how about...."he threw carbolic acid in my face".....then there is..."blood, blood, blood, blood"....remember Ruby took her love to town, old Hank was so lonesome he could cry, J.Frank Wilson in "Last Kiss".

What is your saddest song?

Here's another one from Drake. Guy was a tortured soul, for sure.

What goes unnoticed is what a supremely talented guitarist Nick Drake was. He commanded an audience like few could, I've heard.

Joey & Rory Feek were a married country recording duo. When I'm Gone is a song in which the protagonist, who's dying, comforts the one left behind. That's pretty sad in and of itself.

I'd recommend listening, then reading this...
Spoiler!
...and listening again. It might break you into little pieces.

Yeah, I don't know much about the actual technical side of guitar playing but that's what my buddy said. I remember him commenting on how bizarre River Man feels to play, too.

I can listen to him all day. Never get sick of him.

Dots and Dashes is a song by Silversun Pickups and it has lesbians having a grand ole time then at the end the popular girl went back to being popular like their lesbian day off never happened.

This song by Jason Isbell is a hell of a song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHJhyrrUTgc

She said, "Andy, you're better than your past"
Winked at me and drained her glass
Cross-legged on a barstool, like nobody sits anymore
She said, "Andy, you're taking me home"
But I knew she planned to sleep alone
I'd carry her to bed, sweep up the hair from her floor

If I'd fucked her before she got sick
I'd never hear the end of it
She don't have the spirit for that now
We just drink our drinks and laugh out loud
And bitch about the weekend crowd
And try to ignore the elephant somehow
Somehow

She said, "Andy, you crack me up"
Seagram's in a coffee cup
Sharecropper eyes, and the hair almost all gone
When she was drunk, she made cancer jokes
Made up her own doctors' notes
Surrounded by her family, I saw that she was dying alone

But I'd sing her classic country songs
And she'd get high and sing along
She don't have a voice to sing with now
We burn these joints in effigy
And cry about what we used to be
Try to ignore the elephant somehow
Somehow

I buried her a thousand times, given up my place in line
But I don't give a damn about that now
There's one thing that's real clear to me
No one dies with dignity
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow
We just try to ignore the elephant somehow
Somehow
Somehow
I was going to post this. Good choice.
