I don't remember if we've done this before, but if we have, bite me. :-)

Not a fan of Knocking on Heaven Door covers because everyone did one back in the 80's at the end of fundraising concerts but if I had to pick my favorite cover of that song it would be Warren Zevon's version because he was literally knocking on heavens door when he recorded it.

Yep Warren died within months after he recorded The Wind, Dude needs to be in Rock Hall of Fame. One of rocks greatest song writers his peers knew who and what he was. Dylan even covers him and had highest respect sadly so many only know Werewolves of London but his body of work is so much more. \

David Lindley's peddle steel work is haunting in this version.

Johnny Cash could cover anything and make is sound like he wrote it (notice, Tom Petty is singing backup on a Johnny Cash cover of his song)

I have been on a 5 year bender of his catalog, brainwashed my kids into loving his songs. Nothing like driving home from a night indoor soccer game during the winter and the whole family singing along to My Rides Here or Renegade.

Dawes always seemed to do pretty good covers of Warren Zevon.

The lyrics in Hawaiian native tongue is simply" sing the chorus."

I remember my brother brought the album just titled Warren Zevon home and we put it on the turntable and I was blown away. That was like 1970 i was hooked and am a fan still today. So many great musicians sitting in on that recording, Stvie Nicks, Linsey Buckingham, Jackson Brown, Linda Ronstadt and the Beach Boys on Desperadoes under the Eves.

A little Bobby Bland.

Slow burn blues, give it time and it'll burn you to the ground.

Check it about 4:00 in.

Have always loved Beth's voice. One of my more impulsive first-listen CD buys back when she debuted.

But let's be honest, Joe's the star here.
