Spanking when I did something really dumb. The last time was I think when I was 12 or 13, almost set the house on fire. And my dad was a volunteer fire fighter. Not difficult math there.
I never got into much trouble aside from that.

My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. When I was about 6 or 7 my mom gave me the wooden spoon once when she heard me call a neighborhood kid Fats.
A week later she was having coffee at the kids house when his mom yelled out the door "Fats knock it off". Or something like that. My mom was mortified and straight out apologized to me. [Reply]
To this day I am still in shock and amazement that my father NEVER hit me or my brother and to a much less extent my sister. I deserved at least 3-4 really good beatings in life as I was one who NEVER listened, nor followed the rules and always did whatever the hell I wanted to. It's no different today.
My father was a real tough guy. He was a loan shark, was chairman of all the pressmen and ran the union for the New York Daily News for many years and hung out with the baddest of bad in the mob.
My mom on the other hand always tried to smack me when I gave her a smart ass comment or wouldn't listen. Of course like every mother always says "Wait until your father gets home."
My Dad would just have a talk with me logically about how I as disrespecting my Mom and being a piece of shit and it made me feel worse than probably hitting me with a belt. [Reply]
