Kinda surprised this doesn’t already have a thread but I’ll get it rolling since the trailer dropped today. Can’t embed right now, my apologies.

Entertaining i guess, but braindead script.

agreed, I had so much hope that this would be a smarter horror movie.

What was up with the two deputies joking in the car while Michael was creating carnage around Haddonfield?

It's not as if the original was "Smart horror" either.

Many of the criticisms in this thread can be applied to the original.

If you go into a movie with the intent of picking at it, you can pick at ANY movie.

Here, pick away at the original "masterpiece" as everyone remembers it....

yes, but much like many other franchises have been rebooted or updated with smarter writing (Bond, for example) I had hopes Halloween was as well.

Aside from opening doors with the power of ESP, here's the tally from the original Halloween:

- Stabbed in the neck with a knitting needle
- Stabbed in the eye with a hanger
- Stabbed in the chest with a chef's knife
- Shot 6 times, then fell out of a 2nd story window

As already pointed out, you can poke holes through any horror film dozens and dozens of times.

I just wish they had paced this one out a little better. Instead of killing 19 people or whatever it was, let’s go with 10 and draw out the suspense. Make sure he’s stalking his victims for an extended period of time, especially if they’re meaningful characters. That’s what made the original so realistic and scary. Everyone is fearful of being stalked and not knowing it.

If you’re trying to convince the audience that this is the same crazed killer from 40 years ago, he needs to be doing very similar things to the original Shape. I think it’s the only thing that kept this from being a fantastic movie.

Finally watched this. It was pretty good. Had some of the feel of the original. Didn't care for the new Dr. Kind of wish they had kept Laure and Michael being siblings. That at least gave a reason why he's after her in particular.

Anyway, it was enjoyable and I read there are two sequels coming in the next two years

He would've if it wouldn't have been for Ghostbusters.

Some rumors out there that Charles Cyphers is returning as Sheriff Brackett as well...nothing confirmed though.
