Each year our goal is to win a title, if this is the way we win this year, being the best team at the end of the year,, I'm okay with that. The only thing missing is the championship game excitement.

Rivals don’t want KU to acknowledge their unanimous #1 ranking at the end. So that’s an added bonus to doing so.

I really think KU should hang a banner but it doesn't have to be identical to the others.

If it said something like

2020 #1

It would accurately reflect that KU was the number one team but didn't actually run the gauntlet of winning six straight games in the big dance.

As a Mizzou fan, could care less if KU hangs a banner and claims ‘National Champ’. They finished #1 in all polls.

But let’s keep it real and all acknowledge they didn’t have to run the gauntlet that is the NCAA Tourney. It’s basically another Helms Championship.

Call it what it is. I have no problem with the NCAA acknowledging them as the best team for 2020.

I didn't hear a quote, but I quickly heard on 610 or 810 today that Self was not accepting it as the National Champion and said they will consider the season to have a vacated champion. Did he say that?

I hope he says, if someone wants to give us an award ranking us as the #1 team or champions or whatever we will happily accept it because our kids worked so hard, etc etc.

It will probably be an AP championship or something. Not an NCAA championship.

It should be a diff notation obv, maybe a diff color.


I’ve sorta always felt 1988 is the outlier banner, since we clearly weren’t the best team that year. Great we got hot for 3 weeks but we went 0-3 vs Dook and OU during the season.

Yeah but dem the breaks. So we upset OU in the finals. 97 and plenty of other KU teams got upset.
