The outlet, which served as an editorially independent project of the Democratic Party think tank Center for American Progress (CAP), will stop current operations on Friday and be converted into a site where CAP scholars can post.

Top officials at CAP had been searching for a buyer to take over ThinkProgress, which has run deficits for years, and according to sources there were potentially three serious buyers in the mix recently. But in a statement to staff, Navin Nayak, the executive director of the Center for American Progress Action Fund, said the site was ultimately unable to secure a patron...

The funny thing is - that's exactly how conservative publications work. The Weekly Standard lost money, but was good for spreading right-wing propaganda among the Washington elite:

Reason Magazine is published by the Reason Foundation, which stays afloat with donations from (literally) the Koch brothers. National Review also loses money.

The difference between progressives and conservatives is that conservatives are much more willing to spend money to keep their unprofitable propaganda out there.

Do you have any idea how many progressive clickbait trash sites have been bought out for pennies on the dollar in the past calendar year?

And they've accomplished nothing but make their ideas less palatable.

This is an industry wide collapse of corporate media and the little dogs and the sick dogs are just the first ones to go. That's why there's a war on independent journalists.

The Daily Beast has big funding but has been e-begging a LOT lately. Not sure they're doing that much better.
