People asked about league average...I compiled this a few months ago. Alex Smith was 27th in the NFL in yards gained on downfield completions. Fewer completions than CASE KEENUM.

You are cherry picking exceptions to the rule and ignoring the fact that Smith was at the bottom of the league not ONLY in deep passing but also in intermediate passing.

Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers were all in the fucking conference championship games last year, and all were in the Top 8 for yards on deep throws.
