An examination of the information provided by the government about the 17 reported deaths show a disease that has thus far largely killed older men, many of who had underlying health problems. NYTimes reports

Oh, who cares then. How can I get it? That would be a good and easy opportunity to get on the news.

I always wanted to get the West Nile and Saars. Sadly I just wasn't able to contract it.

Now that Ebola and bleeding out of the eyes, dying 90%+ in 3 days. That one doesn't sound fun.

We don’t entirely know yet, and we won’t know until more data comes in. Seventeen deaths out of 555 cases would mean a 3 percent mortality rate. That’s a little more than the estimated 2.5 percent mortality rate caused by the Spanish Flu in 1918, the last time the world faced a truly disastrous global pandemic. But it’s nowhere near as deadly as diseases like the bubonic plague, hantavirus, Marburg or Ebola.

Note: MERS, a similar coronavirus was at 35%

I realize that, but I think we need to assign it the appropriate level of credibility considering it's:

1) China

and

2) They are trying to calm fears of an epidemic

OK you keep the numbers right.

Flu killed over 50000 American last year

Lets not get all panicky From CDC/theHill

But donít miss the broader perspective: Even if the Wuhan coronavirus spreads to as many people as were infected by the Ebola outbreak in West Africa in 2014-2015, or the SARS outbreak from the early 2000s (more on that one in a minute), other diseases are far more deadly. The CDC said the flu virus that circulated around the world last year killed an estimated 57,000 Americans

This disease only appeared in December 2019 they have no idea what the true mortality rate is. But mortality is only one component, communicability is the other. A disease with a lower mortality rate, but far easier to transmit would in many cases be worse.

The Article i posted earlier said that the 1918 Spanish Flu had a mortality rate of 2.8 percent. it killed 50 million people worldwide and 675000 Americans.

But, no I am not ready to throw my bug out bags in my truck yet.

You're missing the spin: this is a reason to need the government to save us.
