Fans wear jerseys because players (especially Mahomes) have insane talent and entertain us. Same with actors and singers

They are entertainers I'm not an entertainer but i like to be entertained. i work hard and put in a lot of hours at work and with my hard earned money I'll buy a jersey with my favorite quarterback name on it just so I'm entertained.

Has nothing to do with putting them on a pedestal, it's about rooting for them and showing support for the team.
