Yep, I was hoping that we could trade back and still get Nix later, but with the Penix pick, that thought went out the window. Obviously I would have rather had more picks by trading back, but I'm certain Nix wouldn't have been available anymore. [Reply]

This is really all that needs to be said.
They can sit there all they want and talk about how much they love the player now that he's a Bronco, but it says a lot that they wanted him more after a trade back, and wouldn't even consider trading up.

The desire to trade back had a lot to do with the fact that Denver is missing three first round picks and three second round picks due to the Russ and Payton trades.
They didn’t trade back because they were terrified they’d miss out on their guy. [Reply]
