I haven't been keeping up with the movies. However, I was a huge nerd with the books. Loved them, and I hold the final battle of hogwarts dearly. I've read they're going to change Snape's death scene and fuck with Neville killing the snake. Hope those rumors aren't true. And I hope they do Dumbledore's king cross scene justice. I look forward to seeing the movie once they are all out in a set.

AFAIK all they did with Snape's death scene was move it out of the Shrieking Shack. As for Neville and the snake, I do appreciate the fact that Neville could've easily been "the Chosen One" instead of Harry, but I found that scene with the Sorting Hat and Neville pulling the Sword of Gryffindor out of it to be sort of stupid. I don't mind if Neville kills the snake in a different manner, but if they let Harry kill it that works too (since according to many he's done nothing all series except be a snivelling whiner).

All I can tell you about King's Cross was that it looked like they at least do have Harry and Dumbledore and some exposition. They probably excised the whole crying infant-like monster-thing, though. The film's not ready to screen yet as I have to spend most of tonight packing up "Pirates 4" and moving at least half of "HP7B" onto the reel unit, but I think I'll at least play the movie audio to see what goes on in that scene.

Ah that's no fun if they moved Snape's death. I seemed only he helped save harry(the memory thing) in the place James once saved him.

I loved the part where Neville retrieved the sword. Brought more of that "true gryffindor" thing about that I loved in the series. Each house protected it's own well throughout the books.

I haven't seen a movie past 4, and my memory of that one is vague. I saw the seen where Dumbledore died in the sixth movie while browsing movie channels, and I didn't care for it.

However I do plan to watch them because I'm starting to wish there was something more to the potter world after the last book. My question is, do the movies really depict Harry as useless? I know his friends and associates bail him out frequently throughout the books, but his leadership role and bravery plus the connection with voldemort make him imo opinion a true hero after conquering all. Hermione being a 'robin' character and Ron being a headcase.

Harry Potter backs into Voldemort's camaro vanishing him forever into magical nothingness.

It was a strangely quiet film. Even during the battle at the end it was very quiet. And it sounds like they trimmed the "surprise, he isn't dead" scene. I mean, one minute he was dead, the next minute, there was the sound of zipping and zapping and then I heard him talking to Hermione and Ron, as if, "oh, no big deal". It was weird.

I'm not sure they mentioned the Hufflepuff cup specifically. They did go into Bellatrix's vault to retrieve it but I don't remember hearing them actually discuss what it was. The others followed true to the book though (even with "I am ready to die" revealing the Resurrection Stone in the Snitch).

It did sound like Neville got to make a nice impassioned speech to Voldemort and pull out the sword, but then I heard Harry say something like, "We have to get the snake," so I don't think Nagini was killed at that spot.

They did indeed allude to it being King's Cross. They even had the little monstrous piece of Voldemort there, with Dumbledore's line about "we can't help" or something. Seemed pretty close to the book.

One thing they did move; they took the whole exposition about the Elder Wand and its true master OUT of the final fight between Harry and Voldemort, which seemed to be fought rather silently (i.e. sound effects only, no dialogue). They pretty much summed it up instead in a little Harry/Ron/Hermione discussion post-victory. Not really sure why they did that. Maybe they wanted to make Harry seem more "powerful" (answering some of the criticism of him being too wimpy). They also seemed to remove the rebuilding of Harry's wand (at least I didn't hear any "reparo" in there) and it sounded like they had Harry break the Elder Wand in two (which I kind of liked, because I never liked the idea of him just putting it back in Dumbledore's coffin for any wannabe-evildoer to get again). And they did have the final scene with the children, which is nice.

I'm not sure what it actually looks like. Just by listening, it seemed a tad unsatisfactory albeit a nice wrap-up of the series. I think most people will like it, but to me it "sounded" a bit empty... basically, it "sounded" like the second half of a movie. Still not sure they couldn't have just made one big-ass 3-hour film and not split it up into two but we all know that was a cash grab.
