Washington DC and The Holy Land>Stacey Abrams makes case for a minority woman on Biden ticket
Merde Furieux 11:41 AM 04-22-2020
Stacey Abrams underscored the importance of Joe Biden leading a diverse ticket ahead of November's general election.

"Women of color, particularly black women, are the strongest part of the Democratic Party, the most loyal," Abrams told ABC's The View on Wednesday.

She added, "But that loyalty isn't simply how we vote: It's how we work. And if we want to signal that that work will continue, that we're going to reach not just to certain segments of our community but to the entire country, then we need a ticket that reflects the diversity of America."

Abrams, the failed 2018 Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate and former minority leader of the Georgia House of Representatives, has been openly campaigning to be Biden's running mate.

Biden, himself a two-term vice president and a Delaware senator for 36 years, has promised to pick a woman but has stopped short of vowing to choose a minority woman.

On Wednesday, Abrams told The View co-host Sunny Hostin that she trusted Biden to "make a smart choice," but while she appreciated how "he has lifted up women as being a necessary partner," she shared Hostin's concern about diversity.

Abrams isn't the only woman publicly jostling for the 2020 Democratic vice presidential nomination. Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts have said they would accept the role if Biden asked them to serve.

Abrams defended her overt campaign for the No. 2 spot on Wednesday, echoing Biden's campaign slogan and responding to criticism that she lacks the national experience for the position.

"I try to be straightforward," she said. "I learned early on that if I didn't speak for myself, I didn't tell the story."

Trump didn't enter the race with elected office pedigree, but he perservered through a hostile primary and even more hostile general.

She may end up wowing the nation in the next 6 months, but the DNC/Biden camp have done a poor job of prepping the populace for her selection, if it is her, outside of noting and highlighting her skin tone and gender.

Eh, sometimes I'm in the mood for pancakes.

When made right, they strike a great balance between moist and fluffy. Waffles can be too dry unless drenched in syrup, and French toast can be too chewy.

Relatively speaking, of course. All three are great when well made.

Cinnamon swirl bread french toast
Thin crispy waffles. Not that Belgian shit.
Pancakes not out of a box.

Not necessarily in that order but each with real maple syrup.

I watched the interview that was on MSNBC, Joe was just going through the motions with his usual word salad in talking about Abrams. He does not even make sense anymore.

So it would be equal to what we get out of the current?

Bring her in for a look?

She could be a good backup on the D-line. Chris Jones can be the bread, and she could be the butter.

Especially if she has some of the talent of her twin Michael Strahan.

Do they go to the same dentist?

Wily attempt to mask the actual dynamics of the decision here.

The Dems sales pitch this time around is that 'y'all fucked up so bad, you're gonna have to accept our retarded leftwing policy platform if you want any of our delicious warm and tasty gravity, good vibes and professionalism.'

That policy platform is already distasteful to the electorate, even to the base, or the 'good kind of socialist' Bernie would have smoked Biden in the primaries. So they already have a substantive anchor. Then when you factor in that the positives the Dems are supposed to bring to balance it out are at best a wash, or maybe even a further deficit, with Biden and maybe Abrams, it's getting to be tough sledding.

It's like if you had Bo Jackson up against Icharo Suzuki for MVP. Bo leads the league in strikeouts, and he also leads in homeruns. Suzuki's pitch is then, I may not clobber the ball, but I get on base reliably.

But if, as time winds on, you find out Suzuki is striking out nearly as much as Bo Jackson, you don't get to forget that his power hitting is a deficit and argue 'hey, their strikeouts are nearly a wash, so Suzuki should win.'
