Nzoner's Game Room>Any Bourbon drinkers out there?
The Poz 01:04 PM 06-19-2008
I've heard some good things about Buffalo Trace Bourbon.
http://www.buffalotrace.com/

Can't get it up here north of the border but, through a wine distributer I am able to order a case. Would like to hear from someone who knows their stuff and has tried it before I order.

Thanks

It is very good if you try and seem a bit disappointed put just a splash of water in it that seems to open it up.

Nothing fancy like you.
Pick up some NEAT glasses or a Norlan. Makes a huge difference. Both put the 'sweet spot' right to your nose so you get the full aroma and essence of the bourbon.

I think that's the 1792 lineup
there is also a port finished version. probably the best of the bunch.

Good lord, it's 86 proof. No water needed.

Why ruin a bourbon with port?

they only "finish" the whiskey in port barrels, i think for 2 additional years. it gives a little different sweetness and oak character. i'm not a fan of the 1792 expressions, but the port finished version was pretty good.

and for what its worth, i really like a good old tawny port. if you enjoy oak aging and its effects on spirits, an old port is about as good as it gets.

Can I ask how you like to drink this?

Wife likes these flavored whiskey for making drinks but the Crown Royal Apple is much better than the Beam. She likes to mix it with Cranberry juice for a Washington apple drink. I still prefer to do equal parts of Crown, cranberry juice and sour pucker for a Washington Apple, however.

Do you drink that stuff straight?

We bought some Crown Honey and I love it in lemonade, Crown Maple too. Great summer drinks to sip while in the pool.
