Nzoner's Game Room>Cam Newton to the Patriots
Dante84 05:55 PM 06-28-2020

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton has reached agreement on a one-year, incentive-laden deal with the New England Patriots, league sources tell @mortreport and me.

Newton now will step into the mix to try to help replace former Patriots’ QB Tom Brady.

I'm willing to bet that belichick goes with stidham over cam. That seems like a smarter than everyone else move that he would make.

Does this mean Cam will finally be able to draw roughing the QB penalties?

:-)

They still have absolute dogshit at WR and Cam hasn’t played good football in years.

I’m not even giving them the division just yet. The Bills are a better football team. The question is, will they actually show it.

Newton's shoulder is toast. I watched some of his MVP season on game pass. His velocity, release point etc. Is all very different than it is today. He's lost a ton in that arm.

Married into a family of Auburn fans. This is my worst nightmare.

Yeah, the Patriots made a shrewd pickup there.

He was mostly healthy in 2018 and had a nice season. If the Patriots get 14 or more games from him they win the AFC East and may be the third-best team in the conference.

If he’s healthy and the Patriots are able to revitalize him a bit, they may challenge the Ravens for first runner-up to our Chiefs.

Yep. Solid gamble. They signed him for pennies

The fact that any team - let alone a belichek-coached team - would sign this guy after watching him not go after a fumble in the most important game of his life........staggering.

That ONE moment is all you need to know about Cam Newton.

Having no QB does that.

The Patriots are going to play like Baltimore this year. Run the ball and play defense. Belicheck doesn't care if Cam Newton gets run into the ground during his short time in New England.

Gonna be a rude awakening for Cheatriots fans when they go 6-10 this year.
No one year deal is a desperation deal.

Fantastic signing by the Pats. No risk whatsoever for them. Seems like a good fit to me actually. Cam hasn't exactly had great WR play most years. At this point he's an underrated QB. Not worried about them overtaking the Chiefs but NE should improve bat QB in 2020 to 2021. Brady was6 garb last yr.

Im interested in seeing how they adapt the offense to his capabilities as well as what sort of chemistry he builds with N'Keal Harry.

If Newton is willing, RPO game could be a factor with either Harry or Edelman as the primary run target.
