Nzoner's Game Room>CBS: The Bills are the team no one, including the Chiefs wants to see in the playoffs

Mentions the Chiefs several times, so figured you guys would want to see it.

The Bills are the team no one, including the Chiefs wants to see in the playoffs

Forget the Ravens. Forget the Bucs. The team you don't want to play in January is the Buffalo Bills.

With all due respect to the Packers, the AFC's No. 2 overall seed may very well be the second-best team in the NFL.

The Bills crushed the Dolphins 56-26 in a game Miami needed for their playoff hopes. And maybe we didn't see a 30-point win coming, but it's in line with what the Bills have been doing to teams in recent weeks.

Buffalo has had a top-five scoring defense since Week 12. If not for the Hail Murray they would have finished on a 10-game win streak dating back to before Halloween.

And then there's Josh Allen. The third-year franchise quarterback has, in consecutive weeks, set the Bills single-season records for passing touchdowns and passing yards.

What I love most about the Bills is that they aren't even letting teams hang around. Since that Week 10 loss to the Cardinals, not a single team has finished within a possession of the Bills.

I go back to that Week 6 loss to the Chiefs. Head coach Sean McDermott picked his poison and let the Chiefs' run game beat them up so that Patrick Mahomes wouldn't. Kansas City rushed for 245 yards and Mahomes passed for 225 yards.

But with about 5 minutes left in the game and down 23-17, the Bills forced a Clyde Edwards-Helaire fumble that would have given the Bills the ball at the Kansas City 31.

They would have had a chance to take the lead against the Chiefs there. But instead, the replay showed Edwards-Helaire's knee was down just before the ball came out. Mahomes took the Chiefs down for the field goal and that provided the final margin of victory.

Allen is a better quarterback today than he was then. The defense is playing far better ball. And after sweeping the Patriots and beating the likes of the Seahawks and Steelers, the Bills now know how to win big games.

But how many run based teams do we have to beat before people comprehend that we can defeat that style? Titans?? Ravens?? Broncos?? What makes the Colts any different to those sides?

Yep.

It doesn't work. Nothing really "works". Some teams have been limiting but nobody has shut it down completely.

Only Mahomes can do that. If he's on, nobody is stopping him.

San Fransico had as scary a run game as we've faced scheme and results wise (how they ran through the Vikings and Green Bay was ridiculous) and we overcame that too on the biggest stage of them all. But folks just cannot seem to accept that our team are extremely battled tested in that department.

The 2019 49ers would slaughter the 2020 Bills.

Yep.

I'm not scared of the Colts but I'm really not scared of the Bills.

There's nobody in this playoffs that really worries me. Sure, the Chiefs could lose but that's just an unemotional fact. I'm pumped for the playoffs, not worried AT ALL.

It's not other football teams I am worried about.

Covid and injuries are the things that can derail this.

I think the Steelers are the team that gives me the most pause. Ben is a shadow of what he was but is still a future HoF'er, they have weapons on offense, their defense is legit (I really, really wanted us to trade for Fitzpatrick, grr. Happy with Badger and would love to have both, but still), and they are postseason veterans with Tomlin.

That's been disproven for the most part... teams built around outscoring the Chiefs have the best chance at success.

Pretty much this ^

This is by no means ours to lose. We are somewhat vulnerable, but so is every other team.

I'd say it's about 50/50 on the Chiefs vs the field for who is the AFC champion.

Our biggest challenge is getting and staying healthy for the Playoffs.

My biggest concern is whether they can start the games strong(er). We know they can come back from big deficits, but it would sure be a hell of a lot easier on my heartburn if we didn't have to come from down 24 due to them starting sluggish and making mistakes early.

After one of the shittiest playoff games I've watched, Texans vs Bills, I was so pumped to destroy the Texans... and that start was just heartbreaking.

I never have high expectations for high quality WC games, so between that and weeks of reading "they didn't win by enough!", I'm ready for a complete demolition without going down 2 scores first.

Likely won't happen (it's still the playoffs), but it would feel so fucking good.

Just don't start in a 14-21 point hole and that would be good for me. I'd like to see them score on their first drive too.

A list of the qb's the Bills have faced this year.

Darnold twice
Cam twice
Fitzpatrick
Tua
Goff (put up 30 plus)
Murray (put up 30 plus)
Mahomes
Tannehill (put up 40 plus)
Ben
Lock
Carr
Herbert
Mullens
Wilson (put up 30 plus)

Two rookies (Tua and Herbert)
Two second year qbs (Murray and Lock)
Two back-ups ( Fitz and Mullens)
Two qb's way past their primes ( Ben and Cam
Two middle of the pack qb's (Carr and Darnold)

Mahomes, Ben, Wilson and Goff were all home games. The best qb's they faced on the road (Murray and Tannehill) they lost the games.
