Hockey is a little odd. The first third of the season is almost like a really long preseason in football; no one's really playing at their highest level.

But as it gets closer to to the break, things start to pick up. The last month-and-a-half of the regular season is pretty exciting. Players start to bring their A-games.

The playoffs are where it's really at. It's a completely different game. Everything is much faster, more physical, etc.

If you want to see hockey how it's supposed to be played, wait until March or so. Or just wait til the playoffs. That's when everyone's laying everything on the line.
