Nzoner's Game Room>Veach's '21 Offseason Plan to Keep Us Thriving: Let's speculate
Dante84 10:03 AM 02-08-2021
In order to prevent us wasting precious years of Patrick Mahomes' career, Veach needs to work some magic this offseason. What's your advice for him?

I think 185 is probably the floor, so we should be in decent shape.

Look up a couple of posts. The floor is $180.

I know that what they are saying now, what I'm saying is that I think the floor is probably a little bit higher than that. Hell, you get the TV deal done and just maybe you could just keep it flat.

Did I see talk about Houston coming back to KC?

It’s been speculated on, but I don’t see it.

The message they sent by overhauling that defense doesn’t make sense if you bring him back. Just my thoughts.

I’ve seen him mentioned only in the conversation of “Chiefs should bring in a veteran pass rusher”.

I mean, depending on the price, I'd be ok with that. Him across from Clark would be a nice fit.

In theory yeah, but didn’t it feel like they intentionally moved on from him and replaced the whole defensive leadership group with Clark and Mathieu? Just feels like mixed messaging there.

Now, if they really did offer Houston a pay cut and he simply declined, then maybe its more realistic as that would indicate they didn’t necessarily want him out.

We are 99 pages in no need to respond to the first post at this point rookie.

-Veach likes Sammy. Obviously Andy and Patrick do too. But it made it seem like they want insurance and a path forward after next year. Probably bc covid will probably erase OTA’s again and a rookie WR won’t know the system entirely just like Willie Gay this season.
-Nate made it seem like Reiter will stay on a cheap-ish deal bc it’s the best play for both sides. Who knows
-Osemele wants to be back and Nate thinks he will be and would probably start again
-Dirty Dan sounds like he’ll definitely be back and won’t break the bank by any means
I think that anybody stressing over the cap after hearing things like this is foolish.

Veach knows what he's doing and he has a solid figure to work with. Plenty of players are willing to restructure or take team-friendly deals to stay.

Sounds more and more like the roster will be very similar, minus the dead weight. With a good draft, we could very easily see the best Chiefs team ever next season. And a motivated one.

They moved on from him over pay. Not over leadership.

If that’s the case then yeah I suppose he could come back. We just don’t know for sure cause there was also a lot of buzz about wanting crazy types like Tyrann and Frank to lead the charge.

It could be a bit of both. I always loved Houston and if they can make it work, cool. Would love to see him win a title.
