Who says TMZ paid to get a copy of the video? I'm sure they found it in the mailbox.

The report did not go through the official public records request process.

So the NFL has a connection at the Cleveland PD...that will give them police reports "off record"?

This is going to get interesting..
Whaddya' think bro, was it the Jesuits?

TMZ knowingly profited from stolen property...the hotel owns the material on that tape. It's damaging to their business.

Hunt was renting a room there...not just an weekend thing. The hotel most definitely doesn't want sensitive surveillance video of its high-profile patrons sold to a tabloid TV. It's their property...and was stolen. Did TMZ get clearance from them to make it public?

Cleveland PD supposedly never had a copy of the hotel footage... as it was a misdemeanor.

The big question is did TMZ make a public request for the police cam footage...and when? The date will be very interesting. The hotel footage and the police footage were obtained from two different sources. If TMZ didn't make a formal request...Hunt can sue the shit out of both of them.
No. He doesn't have a case and he can't win. He has no expectation of privacy in a public hallway. End of story. He got caught along with multiple incidents of abusing other citizens. He needs to be in jail.

Then the hotel can sue and go through legal discovery...which they won't.

The acquisition and timing of the evidence is the story here, not defamation of character. As much as I would LOVE to see Hunt nut-punch TMZ in to next year, it's just not going to happen.
I would prefer that Goodell and the NFL be dragged naked through broken glass over their irresponsible handling of this "investigation".

How would that change the outcome? Find out yesterday...find out a year ago...he'd be out of the league either way.

An example of this was the Alaska earthquake...and someone took a great photo of the cracked road. Someone from CBS corporate immediately contacted them them and asked if they could have permission to use the photo. They cant just steal media and use it for profit.

In this case...broadcasting said stolen media actual is causing damage. TMZ knew they didn't have the hotel's permission to possess/use it.

If someone filmed that hallway on their cellphone and sold it to TMZ...that's a different situation.

TMZ could claim they were doing a Public Service Announcement.

None of that changes anything for Kareem Hunt.

If the hotel goes after TMZ and wins...he might have some legal footing. By profiting off broadcasting private stolen media, it cost him millions.

TMZ didn't have permission to even possess that media...let alone profit from it.

If some disgruntled Universal employee leaks a movie...you cant take that media and distribute it for profit just because you have access to it. It's not yours..

The NFL tried to get the hotel footage and they said NO....

If Elmer Fudd accidentally shoots Daffy Duck when it's actually Rabbit Season, is Bugs Bunny liable because of the confusion caused by Daffy and Bugs arguing on which season was currently active? Deformation of character?
