Media Center>Must Watch Series
Buehler445 08:54 AM 04-26-2012
All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

Spoiler!

Here is a listing of shows on my list to watch (mostly due to this thread)

I work a fuckton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

UPDATED for the shows I've seen recently.

I can't embed the following so if you have a couple of minutes click the link and check this out.I will say that Voight the head of the intelligence division is a bad ass, over the top at times but his character at least imo is riveting.

I'm not sure my favorite show right now isn't Suits. I have no idea how they keep that damn thing going on such a thin premise, a constant Sword of Damocles hanging over all of them, but they come up with compelling twist after compelling twist. And they do a fantastic job at manipulating highs so that when the lows come they're like icepicks in the back.

Busted through The Fall...was kinda meh, esp. the last few episodes. Gillian Anderson is still smoking and Dornan wasn't bad.

Wife and I are going through The Killing right now, in season 3...love it so far.

It can be fun plotting, but is shit law.

I watched it as a comedy last night as no one actually looked at anything. And aside from the assumption on the gov records Donna stole, nothing was authenticated.

It's getting to be just beautiful people passing random documents and Litt being amusing.

Almost like Bert Macklin, Private Eye wrote it.

I never assumed it was even remotely legally accurate. Hell, them all knowing Mike isn't a lawyer and letting him practice anyway seems a bit ludicrous, just thinking logically. But at the end of the day I really couldn't care less about law, so it doesn't phase me all that much. It's basically a primetime soap opera. The interpersonal relationships have always been the hook. At least for me.

Yeah, it's usually OK. But sometimes, never moreso than tonight, it's just rapid fire dialog meant to sound erudite, but completely ridiculous.

Probably ten times as ridiculous for doctor shows.

For me, they might as well do the exact same scenes, except the dialog would be like;

Here's a piece of paper. Bring me back another different piece in 24 hours.

[intervening scenes]

Here's another piece of paper. You can't possibly win. [and scene]

Definitely legitimate horror, but a lot of his signature touches.
Just watched the episode with the choreographed name game number in the asylum. Ugh. First time I've felt the Glee influence.

Love when the new face shows up, and the last second of the promo had me laughing a solid minute.

The Good Wife is probably the most legally accurate fictional show in production, probably more accurate than anything since the earliest years of Law and Order with Moriarty and Robinette.

And the storytelling doesn't suffer for it, but is instead enhanced by the verisimilitude.

Fresh off the boat.

If you can make it past the stupid ass intro and theme music, it's pretty funny
