Nzoner's Game Room>John Dorsey's best/worst accomplishment.
Direckshun 02:21 PM 06-27-2017
I think the best thing John Dorsey did as GM was discovering Terrance Mitchell. That ability to find guys off the street and have them contribute was a very valuable skill.

I think finding Hill in the 5th round was a steal.

Bringing in Travis Kelce in the 3rd, an All Pro caliber tight end, is super impressive.

Kind of crazy to say this, but Eric Fisher turned out to be a pretty good pick considering the other reasonable options that were there in an absolutely garbage draft.

Drafting Pat Mahomes was a stroke of genius as well.

Dorsey's worst move was definitely drafting the corner in the 3rd round that we cut before the season started. That's virtually unheard of in the NFL, an absolutely bizarre move.

The Dwayne Bowe contract was hilariously terrible, maybe one of the worst contracts in Chiefs history.

Maclin as a cap casualty in his last week may turn out to be the worst move, but he was pretty lousy last year.

What am I forgetting, folks?

The Ben Grubbs trade, while an admirable shot, just didnt work out at all.

Bad

Dunta Robinson, Anthony Fasano, Vance Walker, Jeremy Maclin, Joe Mays, Dwayne Bowe, re-signing Jaye Howard only to cut him a year later, trading for and signing Ben Grubbs to a ridiculous contract, the disastrous and unnecessary $4 million dollar Dead Cap Space deal to Hali, only to turn around and sign him to a 3 year, $21 million dollar deal, flubbing the Emmanuel Sanders deal, Paul Fanaika and spending a 3rd on KeiVarie Russell, only to cut him because he sucked ass.

Travis Kelce.

Dwayne Bowe, Missing on a WR in 14', never address the guard position in 14'. Those were the reasons why this team just missed making the playoffs in 14'.

You're forgetting the circumstances that led to Bowe's contract. It was a horrible draft for WRs and KC had the #1 pick. It was a perfect storm for Bowe and shit storm for the Chiefs.

Hopkins was drafted at like #27...and KC didnt have a 2nd round pick.

Here is that draft..find which WR KC should have taken with the #1 overall pick?..or in the top of the 3rd.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_NFL_Draft

Bowe was the #2 rated WR FA that off-season...and they wanted to keep a few locker room veterans in Reid's 1st year..

Dorsey's best draft picks were "troubled" players with a history of violence, suspensions, laziness and college dismissals.

Kelce, Peters, Hill and Jones.

Russell had red flags as well. Dorsey ignored them and paid the price.

Alex Smith trade compensation gave up way too much for a player who was going to get cut more than likely
Alex Smith contract extension did the deal way to soon
These two mistakes above made not drafting Derek Carr even worse.

Best is trading for Mahomes or maybe Hill.

Worst is getting shit canned a month before TC. Clark must have massively been just fed the hell up with something Dorsey had done or been doing to fire him on his day off.

How many times has the HC gotten an extension in the same hour the GM got canned. My guess is never before.

Trading down for Chris Jones was dumb as well. Gave up an extra year on a rookie deal. Dumb salary cap move.

Ha..this turned out to be a steal. Carr has been the only (semi) successful QB that KC had a realistic chance at and still cant beat Smith.
