It’s happening: Former Jaguars’ CB Jalen Ramsey is being traded to the LA Rams for two first-round picks in 2020 and 2021, and a fourth-round pick in 2021, source tells ESPN.
Chiefs gave up more for Clark. Ramsey still has this year and next on his rookie deal, and they can franchise him after that.
Two firsts and a 4th for arguably the best CB in the game is a lot, but he's only going to make about $30 million the next three years. That's actually less to give up than a first and second and $105 million. [Reply]

Corners are worth more than DEs in the modern game. I think they're the second most important position on the field. They're on the field every play and there is no way to get to QBs like Brady fast enough. In comparison, DE's are only on the field 60% of the time. That's why the Patriots have spent heavily on their secondary and only given piecemeal deals to their ends. [Reply]

Ramsey isn't playing on his rookie deal next season, no way no how. [Reply]

He doesn't have to play zone. He just needs to man up the opposing teams best receiver. Also the Rams got worked by Jameis "Crabs" Winston. Lot of good that zone did huh? [Reply]

Great idea. Never play zone defense. Man on every down. [Reply]
Terrible trade for the same reason the Frank Clark trade was terrible -- you don't give up draft picks for the "right" to make the guy the highest paid player (or close to it) at his position. [Reply]

We wouldn't have Houston, Ramsey, and a 1st rounder. They spent 2 1st rounders in the trade just like we did.
Its the same deal with the Rams giving up 1 more late round pick and probably less $ later.
You can ask if we could have Houston and Ramsey would we be better and that true but I am not sure how the $ implications would play out since Houston wouldn't restructure and said so publicly. Im guessing we couldn't have made several other moves due to salary cap implications of keeping Houston. [Reply]
