There is a very, very loud section of the baseball fandom who is 100% behind DeWitt and the owners. They feel if the books were opened, they’d show the owners were making only marginal profits or even losses and have bought the owners ridiculous take that Forbes' reporting is completely off base.

I’d even wager that the grand majority of fans I know in person are firmly in the owners camp over the players for that reason.

But still, only to a point. If baseball loses this season, Soccer will overtake them as the summer sport within the decade. Something is going to fill that void, probably an outdoor sport. There really aren't any other options for it.
