Fielding phone calls this morning from southern meteorologists who don’t have to forecast wintry weather all that often to confirm what they’re seeing. Conclusion: freezing rain is THE WORST.

It's currently zero here in Northern Illinois and -7 in Kansas City.

OTOH, it's 20 in Buffalo and 25 in Juneau.

It's a balmy -14 this morning on the front range. Breezy enough for the weather guys to issue a wind chill warning. I think the wind chill is about -25 to -30 right now but will get worse when the sun comes up and the wind picks up.
