He went after her specifically on the 15th anniversary of the original murder of his older sister. He didnt become infatuated with her, he always was, even while institutionalized. Now, her friends definitely wrong place wrong time. The actual entire series sans 3 is all about Myers unrelenting desire to eliminate his family members.

They were never siblings in the original...Carpenter had to add that into the sequel to justify making it, it completely goes against everything the character was from the start and intended to be. That's where all the adopted Laurie garbage comes from.
This film only recognizes the original as canon soooooo....
The only part of the series that even brings up him wanting to eliminate his family members is the Thorn trilogy of 4,5,6....specifically the shit show that is 6. [Reply]
Easily the best sequel...really really liked it and I think i love it, not 100% there yet but we'll see after Saturday.
The opening is awesome and the opening credit scene is so damn good...
JLC is a goddess and she was so good in this...

In '78 Michael is obsessed with Laurie who is completely oblivious to it and just goes about her teenage ways...
Now we get Laurie just being over the moon obsessed with Michael and all he wants to do is kill, he's completely oblivious to her and quite frankly doesn't give a shit about her.
I'm so glad they went with Michael's randomness and it didn't turn into "oh he's gotta kill XYZ and to get to Laurie"...

I love how they remade the falling off the roof scene but flipped the roles
I think they missed several opportunities to inject suspense into the film. Not enough stalking scenes IMO. It was ****ing brutal at times, and that’s fine, but I wanna see him watching the victim before hand (like Annie in ‘78 and Laurie throughout the whole original). I don’t know, maybe I’m being picky with that but I just feel like they could have put more effort into suspense build and less into brutality and the movie would have been better for it.

Absolutely these things. I watched the original Thursday night and saw this one last night, so those subtleties stood out.
Overall i thought they did a great job with the movie. My only criticism would be the new-ish style of banter/dialogue that you see in modern movies. Not sure how to describe it. That ad lib feeling stuff they do that comes off as unnatural. But it's a minor critique. Overall, great job. I thought it was a great hommage to the original. [Reply]
