Just curious how the community at large is holding up these days. That's all.

Its been rough the last few days. Idk if it had to do with easter and not being with family or what but the last couple of days have been more rough than before. Just trying to take it day by day and staying positive is all.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Sorry to hear about your mom, seedy. :-)

My condolences seedy, losing a parent is so tough. I still miss my Dad, 35 years later.

People not being able to hold services for their loved ones doesn't help matters at all.

Tell those in your life you love them, people.

Aaaaand it's finished.

This old fence...

Thankful not have any change or interruption in employment though it is a weird time to be at a police department people are scared and a lot of times very paranoid. You can see the ebb and flow of being frustrated with their lives being upended or being shuttered in with people.

Sucks this happened just as soccer season was getting going especially with Kansas City looking so strong.

Thankful for a nice relaxing place to call home with all this down time but hoping life gets back to normal at some point. Downtown is such a ghost town right now.

Friday is my last day of paid work. Guess I'm going to see how unemployment works out for the next month or so.

This year I was a school bus driver and part time hourly help for the business. We are getting paid for the last 4 weeks of driving even though we haven't been driving. And because I work for a contractor instead of the school the contractor isnt sure hes gonna get paid by the school for the last month. Tentatively summer school is still scheduled locally (although not officially) so beginning of june I could start working again.

I left work early b cause I was in a weird mood. I went to take some toilet paper to some older people in my life who live out of town a ways, and we are essentially having a blizzard right now. On the way home, due to a bridge being out I had to take a level B road that's not great on a good day.

Past the point of no return I see a truck stuck half way up a hill. I wait and wait and finally pulled up and see it's a lady. A crackhead lady. A pill billy if you will. I inch beside her and tell her I will pull around front and pull her up the hill.

As I start to go, the snow on mud gives way and I slide into a ditch that eats the half of my truck and I'm tilted pretty far up in the air from my driver seat. I tell her I'll make a call to get us out but I have no signal, my phone isn't dying and I don't have a charger because I put it in a work truck. I've got options for help but can't get any of them without a walk to higher ground.
Her boyfriend shows up walking, and as I'm walking up the hill I see the, start backing down the hill and eventually they get turned around and leave.

I'm in the fucking ditch because I was trying to help them....and they just fucking bailed. I didn't need their help, but it's the idea.

I know the closest neighbor and he brings a tractor and pulls me out. He says I don't owe him but he's getting a case of beer and maybe a bottle of crown because I appreciate the help.

I pull onto the highway and go 100 yards before I see another truck broke down with a couple of kids....I decide this is a sign I'm supposed to help someone today and I stop....he does t want any asssistance.

Now I'm home, wet and grouchy......

The only blizzard I expected this late in the spring comes from Dairy Queen.

Fuck this noise.

I'm fine, thank you for asking.

I do, however, have a story that is somewhat similar to Mr. Iowanian's (but very different in practically every conceivable way).

Driving to the market a few solar cycles ago, I encounter a Prius at a stoplight but coming the opposite way. The driver dude had exited the car and was standing near the rear, driver-side quarter panel. I figure he's either out of gas or his stupid battery dried up. Something like that. So I (being the thoughtful Chiefs fan that I am), realize there's absolutely no traffic on this 2-lane blacktop ... and I pull over.

I ask the middle-aged guy, "Need any help?"

And the guy says, "F*** no."

With no other options immediately available to me, I produced a somewhat quizzical expression, rolled up my window and drove on my merry way.

I just don't understand some people. Niners fan is my guess ...

Not sure how a man with a family to feed who is out of work is going to make it. And that bugs me, I have been there back in the day and it really sucks, nothing hurts worst than hearing your child say she is hungry and you have a half of a half gallon of milk a few crackers and some butter, what a meal.

What are those poor people going to do, what can they do?

I'm retired our $$$$ will be there and my kids are grown and gone. Lucky us.

How long can this go on before we start seeing people busting windows, breaking down doors to get that food to feed their families.

I'm totally bummed.
