Locally, we're about 2x worse off than we were last 4th of July July in terms of cases and hospitalizations.

Maybe the 5G is coming along faster than expected.

⚠️It's beginning. Patients in southwest #Missouri are starting to be transferred to other hospitals, hundreds of miles away, as hospitals become filled with COVID patients. Only 38% of #Missouri is fully vaccinated & #DeltaVariant infections are surging. https://t.co/eBqwaD4qOx pic.twitter.com/iAKN8jLIe2

Cox's Edwards appealed to a skeptical public to consider whether to vaccinate not in terms of political discourse, social media misinformation or judgmental attitudes, but in terms of personal trust between an individual and their primary doctor.

He said he's in favor of "the idea of trying to remove all these competing, angry sort of sentiments and go to that one person that really cares about your health care, that doesn't judge you, is your doctor — not Dr. Fauci, you know, but your doctor. I think that's a message that we're learning in our community."

The Pfizer and Moderna in particular have been doing pretty great against all the variants that have showed up so far. And that perhaps encouraging for whatever future variants that are likely but you just never know.

My understanding is they could create a booster pretty quickly and roll it into an annual flu shot if it was needed.

Hopefully it's not necessary. Or at least the rest of the world gets a chance at an original vaccine first.

Mississippi is a perfect storm of right-wing anti-vaxxers and poor black people who are suspicious of the vaccine. Not trying to get political - just stating facts.

They're overloaded here in Springfield at the hospitals. Have had a couple friends in our age range have to be hospitalized. Not ideal.

Well, good to see he still has time on his hands after his Florida conspiracy theories with fellow Covid scam artist Rebekah Geo fell apart.

Interesting study on long-COVID in Swiss children (6-16) with mild infection, with a twist. The children were randomly selected.

Key result: "Seropositive children did NOT report long-COVID more frequently than seronegative children."

He has pretty good insights. I'm sure there will be areas where we disagree.

I started following him when he outlined the two options we had early in 2020:

Mitigation or Suppression.
